Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) advises Chairman of Stewards Brett Day has resigned and will take up a new role with the New South Wales Greyhound Welfare and Integrity Commission (GWIC).
Day has been appointed Chief Steward at GWIC.
HRV General Manager – Integrity Brent Fisher spoke glowingly about Day’s commitment to his role at HRV.
“Brett is an outstanding and exceptional young leader, whose dedication is unmatched,” Fisher said.
“He would be a 24/7 operator, always willing to go above and beyond and all the while bringing others along the journey with him.
“Our junior staff reach out to Brett and he’s always welcomed that role of developing them.
“I wish him all the very best in his new position.”
Day thanked “the HRV Board and Management team, all members of the integrity department and the industry participants”.
“It makes it much easier to deal with when you have a good working relationship with the industry and I found the overwhelming majority were always respectful,” he said.
Day will be moving closer to family in his new role.
Day has been a steward since 2008, with roles in New South Wales thoroughbreds and Queensland harness before joining HRV in 2011.
He has been Chairman of Stewards since June 2018 and was Deputy Chairman of Stewards.
Day will finish with HRV on August 21.
Nick Murray will take on the role of Acting Chairman of Stewards while HRV undertakes its recruitment process.
