Your guide to tonight’s Shepparton harness action with tips, strategy, and quaddie from Bronte Nieuwenburg.
R1 – 6.16pm – Abbey & Abby Shrc Facebook 3yo Maiden Pace – 1690m
7 – Wicked Wizard
5 – The Postmaster
8 – Cmon Sharky
9 – Captain Grin
Although Wicked Wizard’s current exposed form doesn’t look great, I’m expecting big improvement here. He has raced roughly or broken gait through much of his career, but he has recently joined the Shane Sanderson team, where he now has access to facilities like a water walker and a big track, which can be great for horses with gait issues. He trialled well for the Sandersons first-up, and last start he was unlucky but still found the line well. If he has some luck here and paces cleanly, I expect a strong showing.
BACK: 7 Wicked Wizard – 2 units (win)
R2 – 6.44pm – Wager Wednesday Winners Every Week Pace – 1690m
6 – Major Hayley
5 – Bam Bam Brook
10 – Sharp Interest
9 – Fiano
Bam Bam Brook and Major Hayley look like the standout runners in this field, both with mostly NSW form lines. However, I’m going to stick with Major Hayley, as his best recent sectional times are about a second faster than Bam Bam Brook’s. He’ll need some luck from the awkward barrier, but he looks the better value in the market.
BACK: 6 Major Hayley – 2 units (win)
R3 – 7.11pm – Saddleworld Bendigo Trot (1st Heat) – 2190m
4 – Frankythefrenchman
3 – The Night Queen
5 – Starlight Red
8 – Xiaobo
The big trotter Frankythefrenchman has finished in the top two in his last three starts. He was impressive last time out, covering extra ground as he had to sustain a wide run, and he hit the line well. He should be able to settle closer in this field and looks to have a great opportunity to get back into the winner’s circle.
BACK: 4 Frankythefrenchman – 2 units (win)
R4 – 7.48pm – Crowbars Demolition Pace – 2190m
8 – Miki B
2 – Norms Lady
4 – Shades Of Miki
5 – Herakles
R5 – 8.19pm – Pacing Stockfeeds Pace – 1690m
8 – Go Easy On Me
1 – Ollies Medal
4 – Animado
6 – Katunga Express
Go Easy On Me is a smart, lightly raced two-year-old taking on older horses here. She should get the perfect trip behind Ollies Medal, and if she gets clear running, she’ll have the chance to run him down late.
BACK: 8 Go Easy On Me – 2 units (win)
R6 – 8.56pm – Neatline Shepparton Gold Cup 17th Jan 2026 3yo & Older Maiden Trot – 2190m
2 – Voldagha
3 – Little Miss Valley
8 – Little Miss Morgan
5 – Bat Out Of Hill
R7 – 9.30pm – Munro & Associates Conveyancing Pace – 2190m
7 – Icanmotor
6 – Rocket Me
2 – Rolling Remona
4 – Joeys Hangover
Trainer Adam Stephens and driver James Herbertson are both in flying form at the moment, and they combine here with Icanmotor. They will need to overcome a difficult barrier, but his last-start win was strong, and he should be full of confidence.
BACK: 7 Icanmotor – 2 units (win)
R8 – 10.04pm – J & A Mazzetti Painting Pace – 2190m
3 – Beryls Boots
5 – Wheres Wood Wood
2 – Mynameisruby
