Last Sunday’s Shepparton meeting has been hailed a huge success.
On the track, the card provided a super spectacle, with each action-packed event keenly contested.
None more so than the Olive Hayes Memorial Reinswomen’s Pace, which was captured by the Tayla French-driven All Over It.
Along with bragging rights, French received jewelry valued at $600 donated by Bruce Phillips.
Fitting in with the day’s theme, reinswomen won six of the eight races.
Off the track, the afternoon was crammed with highlights as the club hosted its popular Pacing For Pink function.
Along with celebrating females – human and equine – within the industry, the afternoon supports the McGrath Foundation in its mission to raise awareness and funds for women’s cancer treatment.
Thanks to the hard-working and dedicated Pacing For Pink committee, a wide range of activities and fundraising were conducted throughout the day, with all money going to the Foundation.
One of the most popular features was the ‘High Tea’, which was filled to capacity, along with the Fashions on the Field competition.
With the final tally calculated this morning, Pacing For Pink Day raised an incredible $33,951.
“It is amazing that we were able to achieve such a high amount for the McGrath Foundation,” co-ordinator Marg Watson said. “Especially in such difficult economic times and on a day when weather conditions were not kind.”
“We were disappointed when the rain came as we knew it would reduce the amount of people coming, but we still achieved a great crowd and some fantastic results.
“The girls were on fire on the track winning six races, with Ryan Sanderson being the thorn in the side with his double!
“A lot of work goes into this day and there are so many people to thank, particularly all the generous sponsors.
