Bronte Nieuwenburg’s form for Kilmore on Wednesday.

Race 1:
OVERVIEW: KNOW THE SCORE (1) has been racing consistently well without winning recently. He finished second last start at Ballarat, flashing home after navigating wide from three back on the fence. He has the ace barrier here and should have enough gate speed to hold a forward position. OZZIE DIAMOND (10) has been in flying form, winning her last two starts at this track. She has a brilliant turn of foot but will need to overcome barrier 10 over the short trip. STERLING GIGI (7) has equal-best sectional times with Ozzie Diamond in this field. He has consistently been running solid races without winning, but the race map is his biggest obstacle here. GLENLINE (2) is a brilliant swooper who won well last start. Barrier two should allow him to settle in a striking position and threaten late again. Also respecting KEAYANG ALABAMA (9), who is first-up since March.

BACK: KNOW THE SCORE (1) – 2 units (win)
SELECTIONS: KNOW THE SCORE (1), OZZIE DIAMOND (10), STERLING GIGI (7), GLENLINE (2)
Race 2:
OVERVIEW: LITTLE MISS VALLEY (9) finished ninth last start, but that was in the Group 1 Vicbred Super Series Final for four-year-old mares behind Gatesys Gem and I Am Wilma. Her previous run was a fourth in the heat, where she hit the line strongly from well back. She will appreciate the drop in class and looks hard to beat. DISTANT SUN (8) was a good second last start at Geelong. He worked to the breeze and remained strong late. He can make his own luck here. VOLDAGHA (5) had a tough run last start and tired a little late. He is a nice horse who will be a threat if he maps well. WALLIS (7) has a tricky barrier to overcome. If he can find the gaps late, he will be competitive. He has a good relationship with driver James Herbertson, who jumps back on here.

BACK: LITTLE MISS VALLEY (9) – 3 units (win)
SELECTIONS: LITTLE MISS VALLEY (9), DISTANT SUN (8), VOLDAGHA (5), WALLIS (7)
Race 3:
OVERVIEW: HURRICANE HOOLY (10) looked strong when letting down late for third at Ballarat. She has a great turn of foot and, if she gets a good trip into the race, she will be the one to watch late. WHERES WOOD WOOD (8) is in great form, with three seconds and a win in her recent record. She has a great turn of foot but can also race tough, as shown by her second at Shepparton last start. Barrier eight is tricky, as she may get shuffled back early. IMAGUNNARESTNGO (1) should get a comfortable trip along the fence from barrier one and could be in the finish late. GOZO MAJOR (5) was huge when winning two starts ago, racing three wide for most of the event. He can make his own luck and has the best sectional times in this field. Also noting the interesting FINANCIAL BURDEN (3), who hasn’t raced for more than 600 days and was last campaigning in Queensland.
SELECTIONS: HURRICANE HOOLY (10), WHERES WOOD WOOD (8), IMAGUNNARESTNGO (1), GOZO MAJOR (5)
Race 4:
OVERVIEW: This is a competitive event with plenty of chances, making it difficult to narrow the selections down to four runners. STRAIGHT TO THETOP (5) rarely runs a bad race and has the gate speed to map positively. She ran a solid second behind the talented Little Miss Morgan last start. ABBIE (6) is having her fourth start this campaign and is improving with each run as she gets closer to her best form. She raced tough in the breeze last start and was strong to the line. Expecting a good showing here, although the barrier makes things tricky. CONSTANT (10) is a great swooper with the best sectional times in this event. She will be flying home late. Expecting a good showing from MAJESTIC MONARCH (4) if he can map well.
SELECTIONS: STRAIGHT TO THETOP (5), ABBIE (6), CONSTANT (10), MAJESTIC MONARCH (4)
Race 5:
OVERVIEW: KEAYANG MINNESOTA (11) is a very talented trotter, but her manners have been an issue throughout her career. If she trots throughout, she should be winning. Barrier 11 gives her time and space to settle early. ALDEBARAN MARCUS (7) ran a tough third last start, racing in the breeze and still hitting the line well. Barrier seven is tricky, but he can make his own luck. KALARNEY PRINCE (4) is the emergency who has gained a start following an early scratching. He was an impressive winner last start, settling three back on the fence before dashing home once clear to win by more than 12 metres. MOONSHINE LOUIE (3) can perform well with the right run and looks likely to map favourably from barrier three.
SELECTIONS: KEAYANG MINNESOTA (11), ALDEBARAN MARCUS (7), KALARNEY PRINCE (4), MOONSHINE LOUIE (3)
Race 6:
OVERVIEW: SMARTY BART (9) looks a very exciting first starter for Craig and Abbey Turnbull. He ran 1:56.5 in a recent Cobram trial. Barrier nine suits, as it allows him to settle early, which is ideal for a horse with limited experience. KEAYANG MARICRUZ (5) has had two career starts. She was good on debut when finishing second but underperformed at her second start, with stewards noting she was “unable to quicken with them when the tempo increased in the concluding stages”. She has had a month between runs to freshen up and can bounce back here. GOODMORNING MIKI (6) is a well-bred filly who is yet to get it right with her manners. Her race performances haven’t been a true indication of her ability, and her trials have been more encouraging. If she gets it right here, we could see the best of her. HEAVENLY NIKKY (8) continues to surprise me as a maiden. She rarely puts in a bad run but often finds a few rivals a little too good. She should be competitive again here.

BACK: SMARTY BART (9) – 2 units (win)
SELECTIONS: SMARTY BART (9), KEAYANG MARICRUZ (5), GOODMORNING MIKI (6), HEAVENLY NIKKY (8)
Race 7:
OVERVIEW: MY MATE ACE (8) is a talented horse in great form. He has had two starts this year, and although things haven’t gone his way on either occasion, he has still managed to win impressively. He looks progressive and can win again here. OUR ULTIMATE LOIS (3) is first-up in the state for Paul Tonkin. She moves into barrier two following a scratching and may appreciate the change of scenery. TRYX VIXEN (1) is a smart mare at her best. She recently competed in the Vicbred Super Series against the best mares in the state. She can make her own luck but should enjoy a good trip from barrier one here. LOU WILL (7) is a nice horse at his best but has been performing slightly below his best recently. He drops in class here, although the tricky barrier remains a concern.

BACK: MY MATE ACE (8) – 3 units (win)
SELECTIONS: MY MATE ACE (8), OUR ULTIMATE LOIS (3), TRYX VIXEN (1), LOU WILL (7)
Race 8:
OVERVIEW: OVER HERE (7) was a deserving favourite last start but got it wrong with his manners. Despite that, his performance was outstanding. He galloped early, tailed out, then caught the field and still hit the line well. If he trots throughout here, he will be hard to beat. KYVALLEY JOYRIDE (1) gets the ace barrier and should enjoy a comfortable trip. With the right run, he can capitalise. FIRST IN FLIGHT (6) is a first starter for Jason Hackett. She finished second in a recent Bacchus Marsh trial, although it was run in slow time. We will learn more about her here. SYNTAX ERROR (4) doesn’t have the strongest numerical form but has the best sectional times on exposed form in this field. With the right run, she could turn her form around. Also respecting DANCE WITH ROXY (3) after a confidence-boosting second last start.
SELECTIONS: OVER HERE (7), KYVALLEY JOYRIDE (1), FIRST IN FLIGHT (6), SYNTAX ERROR (4)
Race 9:
OVERVIEW: MAAS BETTING AGAIN (3) is a high-speed mare for Alison and Chris Alford. She should be able to find the front with her great gate speed and will be hard to beat over the short trip. TOORAM MAGIC (6) is a talented gelding resuming here after more than 130 days away from racing. Two starts ago, he finished second behind the talented Major Blitz at Bendigo. Fitness is a query, particularly from the awkward barrier. DEMBE (2) is a talented son of Lochinvar Art who is in great form. He has proven his versatility, winning both from the front and with a sit, as well as when racing tough. This is another step up in class. HELLOVATIME (1) is an ultra-consistent horse who is racing very well. He should get a good trip along the fence here.
SELECTIONS: MAAS BETTING AGAIN (3), TOORAM MAGIC (6), DEMBE (2), HELLOVATIME (1)
