Craig Rail has done the form for the Swan Hill Trotters Cup meeting

Race 1:
OVERVIEW: AUSSIE JAY MAC (1) broke stride at the 300m mark and lost approximately 15m before finishing off quickly when an unlucky third (7m) behind My Mate Ace at Shepparton last outing. He has performed well at the trials since and he will take beating if he gives a fool proof display. WICKED HANGOVER (6) is resuming since a Mildura victory in June but he was runner up at a recent Horsham trial effort and should be competitive against this line up. HUNGRY HOGARTH (7) will appreciate a significant drop back in class for this assignment and should go well. He performed a little below expectations when sixth at Charlton last outing but he has been freshened since and his form prior was sound. HALF PRICE BRIDE (2) is drawn to receive an economical trip and is a minor place possibility.

BACK: AUSSIE JAY MAC (1) – 2 units (win)
SELECTIONS: AUSSIE JAY MAC (1), WICKED HANGOVER (6), HUNGRY HOGARTH (7), HALF PRICE BRIDE (2)
Race 2:
OVERVIEW: FEEL THE REIGN (3) settled in eighth position, trailed into the race out three horses wide and hit the line strongly for third behind Altius in a mile rate of 1.56.2 at Kilmore last outing. He produced a strong finish to win at Melton prior and he looms as one of the leading chances again. SPORTING RAGE (2) is a fast beginner and performs best over the sprint distance so he has the conditions to suit him here. He won from behind the leader at Charlton on August 17. SPRINGFIELD RIVER (1) is resuming since a seventh at Cranbourne in June. He will be fitter after two recent trial performances, the latest being a second at Bacchus Marsh and he should receive a nice trip from the pole position. THIS TIME (4) is a former New South Wales pacer, which performed well for a close second at a recent Maryborough trial effort. She made her local debut when she tired late and was unplaced at Maryborough on Monday but she could improve under these conditions.
SELECTIONS: FEEL THE REIGN (3), SPORTING RAGE (2), SPRINGFIELD RIVER (1), THIS TIME (4)
Race 3:
OVERVIEW: LATHER ME UP (1) settled on the markers and failed to run on in a heat of the Breeders Challenge at Menangle last week. She was placed in the Group 1 Bathurst Gold Tiara back in March and she is ideally drawn so she appears to be very well placed against this line up. QUEENS BOULEVARD (4) began quickly and worked forward to find the lead when a strong second behind Keayang Hustler at Horsham. She led throughout at a Stawell victory on September 14 and should give another forward showing from her good draw. TOORAM DANNY (6) settled midfield and came out three horses wide from the 600m when a close second at his first run since June. He should strip fitter from that performance and is capable of going one better. YOU’VE BEEN SERVED (5) won easily at Mildura four starts ago and has taken on strong opposition at her past three attempts, the latest being at Globe Derby where she settled down last, tried to sustain a long run and got into third before peaking late. She appears to be better placed under these conditions and is worth thought. OUR PINUP GIRL (7) produced a big performance to score in a mile rate of 1.55.7 at Ballarat then finished unplaced in a strong race at Melton. She is poorly drawn but should be finishing off well.

BACK: LATHER ME UP (1) – 3 units (win)
SELECTIONS: LATHER ME UP (1), QUEENS BOULEVARD (4), TOORAM DANNY (6), YOU’VE BEEN SERVED (5)
Race 4:
OVERVIEW: BENNIE AND THE JETS (9) hasn’t raced since July and hasn’t been to the trials but he is clearly the class runner of the field. He won the Elmore and Cobram Cups when he was last in work and was also placed in the Bendigo and Gunbower Cups. OFF YOUR FACESKI (8) produced a strong performance to win under the standing start conditions at Terang last outing. He is a versatile trotter and should give another bold showing. QUEEN KIZEN (5) boasts a consistent standing start record and finished a close second behind Scar at Geelong two starts ago. She performs best when she gains cover close to the pace so commencing from the handicap of 20m is a disadvantage but she is racing too well to dismiss. KENNYWOULD (4) is returning from New South Wales and will be fitter after three placed efforts at the trials. He was a runaway winner at Menangle two starts ago so he cannot be underestimated.
SELECTIONS: BENNIE AND THE JETS (9), OFF YOUR FACESKI (8), QUEEN KIZEN (5), KENNYWOULD (4)
Race 5:
OVERVIEW: MILEY KAY (2) finished off nicely when third behind Kings Gallery on debut then had little luck when taking on a strong field in a heat of the Super Series. This is a much easier assignment and she is sure to attract plenty of support. MEGALODON (1) followed the markers throughout when placed at his first two race track appearances then attempted to make ground out wide on the track from the 500m at his latest fifth. He is perfectly drawn to suit his racing pattern and should be competitive under these conditions. CAZADERO (7) was safely held on debut but he settled in a rearward position and the winner Indulgeme recorded a slick mile rate of 1.55.4. He should find this race to be easier and he is a possible improver. SLOWBURN (6) is a New South Wales pacer, which boasts early speed and has claims. The debutante FEARLESS SNIPER (4) has been switched to trainer Boris Devcic after being safely held in four trial performances. He is well drawn first up and must be kept safe.

BACK: MILEY KAY (2) – 1 unit (each way)
SELECTIONS: MILEY KAY (2), MEGALODON (1), CAZADERO (7), SLOWBURN (6)
Race 6:
OVERVIEW: MAJOR LINCOLN (6) settled in a rearward position and picked up ground without threatening the winner at his latest third. He produced a strong finish to down ESPERANZA (2) at Stawell on September 14 and must be considered as one of the leading chances again. ESPERANZA (2) trailed the leader and used the sprint lane when she appeared to have every chance at her latest second behind MAJOR LINCOLN (6). She scored at Kilmore three starts ago and this race is no harder so she is worth thought again. TALKNPLAY (4) is resuming since a fourth at Bendigo in December but he ran a close second behind the handy type Aussie Jay Mac at a recent Shepparton trial effort. He strikes a suitable field first up and is not without a chance. IVE AN IDEA (5) produced a strong finishing burst when an eye-catching second last outing and cannot be left out of calculations. MASON DIXON LINE (8) finished sixth at Mildura when he was resuming but he was giving the leaders a big start and was making ground late. He should strip fitter from that run and rates as a value hope.
SELECTIONS: MAJOR LINCOLN (6), ESPERANZA (2), TALKNPLAY (4), IVE AN IDEA (5)
Race 7:
OVERVIEW: JUSTALITTLESIP (8) has been racing against the Metropolitan open class and will appreciate competing in his easiest assignment for a long time. He was runner up behind He’s From Heaven in a swift mile rate of 1.52.2 five starts ago, which is a strong form pointer for this event. CALEXICO (9) will also appreciate a drop back in class from his recent efforts and battled on well after enduring a tough run at his latest fifth behind Fairplay. He is a strong 4yo pacer and should make his presence felt. LOUGLE (4) has been racing very well but without luck and warrants respect. He is versatile and is better drawn than his recent performances. MAXY WANTS TO PLAY (2) and EARL OF PEMBROKE (3) are both racing well enough to feature prominently in a quality field.

BACK: JUSTALITTLESIP (8) – 1.5 units (each way)
SELECTIONS: JUSTALITTLESIP (8), CALEXICO (9), LOUGLE (4), EARL OF PEMBROKE (3)
Race 8:
OVERVIEW: KING SAINT (6) chased hard when a close second behind the smart pacer Ultimate Vinnie last outing. He battled on well for a close second behind Dembe (won again since) prior and he is capable of going one better here. TO THE NINES (8) ran a game race when making late ground in fast time at Melton then had no luck whatsoever after being headed off at the start at his latest Mildura third. He couldn’t have drawn worse but he is racing in career best form and deserves to break through for a win. NEW YORKER (9) was left stranded on the outside of the leader throughout and fought on well when fourth behind Mount Barker Boy at Melton last outing. He has been racing well at Metropolitan level and should be competitive under these conditions. OUR VINCENT CAN GOGH (7) didn’t have much luck at Melton last outing and is capable of showing improvement.
SELECTIONS: KING SAINT (6), TO THE NINES (8), NEW YORKER (9), OUR VINCENT CAN GOGH (7)
