Insulator chasing next step in Gavin Lang Memorial

Based on his form trajectory, talented youngster Insulator is the one to follow ahead of tonight’s Gavin Lang Memorial at Melton.

Racing consistently against the best of his crop, Insulator’s form reads fourth, third and second, with a win the next step in the countdown.

“I wish it were that simple,” trainer Joe Pace said. “He’s certainly heading in that direction, so now we’ll have to wait and see.

“He is still a little clueless, but in saying that, he is learning to race and getting better with every run, which you can see in his starts.

“He’s been racing so well and I’m really happy with the way he is in his gait after I made some changes.

“He was giving Michael (Bellman, driver) a hard time, but the gear adjustments have made a massive difference. All of a sudden, out of nowhere, he is as straight as a die and a happier horse.”

With Bellman to take the reins again, Insulator has drawn to search for the lead from barrier four.

“He loves being out in front and being allowed to roll along,” Pace said. “So if he does manage to lead, he will be very hard to run down.”
