SELECTIONS: BREATHE EASY (11), IM STUCK MAN (13), KORENGAL VALLEY (10), REIGN EM IN (8)

OVERVIEW: BREATHE EASY (11) is racing in career best form having been placed in seven of his past eight starts and he won comfortably at Kilmore last outing in a handy mile rate of 1.57.6. He is not as well drawn this evening but he should prove hard to beat again. IM STUCK MAN (13) was beaten by a long margin last outing but the time was very quick and the winner Heatseeker has won again since. This is a drop back in class and he can improve on his numerical form. KORENGAL VALLEY (10) made a mid-race move to park without cover and battled on well for third at Bendigo last outing. He is racing well but without luck and he should be competitive under these conditions. REIGN EM IN (8) follows out behind the fast beginner MADAM REACTOR (1) and will appreciate a drop back in class for this assignment so he is worth an investment. THE GOLDEN HOOK (9) settled three back on the markers, was held up for a run at a vital stage and finished off well for third at Kilmore last outing. He should be finishing off nicely from the trailing draw.

SELECTIONS: MISS PIGGY WIGGY (11), FINAL BOW (10), HOME AND DRY (6), NO EMOTION (9)

OVERVIEW: MISS PIGGY WIGGY (11) was heavily supported when second at Kilmore on Thursday night and is capable of going one better. She did have her chance in that event but the time was fast and her overall form is sound. FINAL BOW (10) settled in a rearward position and was doing her best work late in the same race at Kilmore. She led out then took cover when she scored at Echuca prior and should be competitive again. HOME AND DRY (6) is stepping up in grade a little but he has been racing very consistently and he is versatile so a forward showing is expected. He left a trailing position to circle into the death seat when third behind Zu Hoffen at Kilmore last week. NO EMOTION (9) endured a tough run and had excuses at his latest Charlton eighth. He scored at Charlton in a mile of 1.55.5 on February 16 and he appears to be well placed against this line up.

SELECTIONS: MY GREAT EIGHT (5), BETTORSWEETVICTORY (12), DOT BALL (11), HESTON CASH (4)

OVERVIEW: MY GREAT EIGHT (5) was resuming since December when he finished off well for a close second behind The Accidental One at Echuca. He moves to the front line now and will have derived benefit from his first up performance so he should prove hard to beat. BETTORSWEETVICTORY (12) bounced back into winning form when she led throughout in a career best mile of 1.55.1 at Charlton. She drops back to the second line now but she should go well again. DOT BALL (11) settled in a rearward position and couldn’t work into the race when a distant third behind BETTORSWEETVICTORY (12) last time out. She scored at Echuca prior and this is a similar line up. HESTON CASH (4) hasn’t raced since June but he possesses early speed and will strip fitter after several recent trial efforts at Bendigo so he is not without a chance. SKADI (8), FREAK OUT (9) and SALSBOY (10) are both worth thought from their trailing draw.

SELECTIONS: TICTOK (12), STRAIGHT TO THETOP (3), SETTLE THE BILL (4), WITH APLOMB (6)

OVERVIEW: TICTOK (12) settled midfield and was making ground before running out of room in the straight when third behind Kyvalley Judge at Bendigo last week. She can make errors occasionally but she is the winner of five races from the standing start and she does appear to be very well graded in this event. STRAIGHT TO THETOP (3) won on successive days at Bendigo and Kilmore then followed with a third behind SETTLE THE BILL (4) at Shepparton after she attempted to lead throughout. She switches to the standing start this evening so she can’t utilize her gate speed but she does boast a consistent standing start record so she must be respected. SETTLE THE BILL (4) is a risky beginner and has been unplaced at her two standing start attempts to date but she finished off well to win nicely last week so she must be kept safe. WITH APLOMB (6) is a smart mare when she gets it right but unfortunately, she has made errors at her past two attempts. She was looming into the race when she broke stride at the 400m last week and she is too good to dismiss. DHONI TROUBLE (7) returns from a successful Queensland campaign and must be respected despite meeting a field of more depth.

SELECTIONS: MISS HERMES (13), THE LADYBIRD (10), POLLY PEACHUM (12), BON VIVEUR (11)

OVERVIEW: MISS HERMES (13) dropped back to this grade at Shepparton last week and put in a very tidy performance. She moved up without cover in a hectic tempo and battled on strongly for second behind After The Chase. It is a terrible draw to overcome but she is worth an investment. THE LADYBIRD (10) settled four back on the inside and was held up for a run at a vital stage when a handy fifth (5m) behind Major Maurie last week. She won from behind the leader prior and is one of the leading chances again. POLLY PEACHUM (12) appears to be well placed in this event even though she performs best when she is able to lead. She did finish off best from the second half of the field when she scored two starts ago so she must be respected. BON VIVEUR (11) makes his debut for trainer Gerard Jamieson and was placed in fast time at a recent Maryborough trial effort so he is a possible improver. IAMAWINGATE (9) faded after setting the tempo last week but most of his best efforts have been when coming from off the speed so he is worth thought from his trailing draw.

OVERVIEW: MOUNT BARKER BOY (9) hasn’t raced since finishing unplaced in a Consolation of the Bathurst Gold Crown a year ago but he has been very impressive in two recent trial successes, the latest by a very large margin so a bold showing is expected. CAPTAIN MOLLY (1) is resuming since an unplaced effort in the Super Series Final back in November. That was her first unplaced effort in five starts so she is a quality filly and is perfectly drawn first up so she commands respect. Three horses are shooting to remain undefeated in this strong field with those being KEAYANG PASSION (3), OUR SWEET JEANNIE (4) and GIDGETT KAY (5). KEAYANG PASSION (3) broke the track record in winning the Helen Dihm Memorial Blue Lake Classic last time so she is probably the pick of the trio. FROSTY DROP (2) and SCOOTER LOU (10) are both worth thought in multiple combinations.

SELECTIONS: THE CHOOK (8), JACKIES GIFT (7), DREAMS OF LOVE (6), JESSICAS STORY (2)

OVERVIEW: THE CHOOK (8) is awkwardly drawn on the inside of the second line but she appears to be the class runner of the field. She finished off nicely from seventh when third behind Blackrange Glory at Maryborough last outing. JACKIES GIFT (7) is a former New South Wales trotter, which joins trainer John Newberry. She recorded a sharp mile rate of 1.57.9 at a Goulburn victory in October and struck trouble at Menangle last time out. She has won a trial at Canberra since her latest performance and is worth an investment. DREAMS OF LOVE (6) has been confidently supported in several of her recent performances and she is a hope of finding the lead in this event so she is worth thought again. Her third placed effort behind Rakero Warrior at Charlton on February 16 is a good form pointer for this event. JESSICAS STORY (2) performs best when she can lead out then take cover so she is ideally drawn to suit her racing pattern. She has claims along with the former New South Wales trotter ALLWATFUNJINGLES (4) and TIARA GAIL (9).

SELECTIONS: PIPALICIOUS (10), CALABASAS (1), THELMABELLA (4), HEIR JAURDON (7)

OVERVIEW: PIPALICIOUS (10) broke stride in the score up and had to chase hard to catch the field so she has had excuses at Ballarat on Thursday. Her manners have cost her a maiden success to date but she does have ability and will take beating if she delivers a fool proof display. CALABASAS (1) was heavily supported (2-00 fav) at her debut and she ran a reasonable race for fourth behind Metro Swish. She is much better drawn for this assignment and must be considered as one of the leading chances. THELMABELLA (4) was put away after a tiring seventh at Maryborough in December. Her form prior was good enough to suggest she could win a few races so she cannot be left out of calculations. HEIR JAURDON (7) is a nicely bred first starter for trainer David Miles. She has had a trial campaign in October and was placed at a recent Melton trial effort so she must be kept safe. TWOTTER TAY (2) and THE TROUT COD (3) both made errors on their debut but had good enough trial to suggest they can be competitive with better manners here.

SELECTIONS: CAPTAINS RUSH (3), SHIFFRIN (2), BETTOR PUNTER (7), CAMERINA (4)

OVERVIEW: CAPTAINS RUSH (3) followed some handy trial performances with a first up second behind Return Serve then had no luck whatsoever after being severely checked at the start behind Our Sweet Jeannie. She has ability and should be competitive under these conditions. SHIFFRIN (2) was caught wide early, eased to last then ran home well again at the finish so she performed well at the Melton trials last week. The Andy Gath trained debutante obviously shows some promise and is likely to have her admirers for her first up performance. BETTOR PUNTER (7) stormed through from the second line to find the lead in the early stages when a creditable fifth at Maryborough last outing. He showed ability at the trials prior to his first three attempts and is not without a chance. CAMERINA (4) is resuming from a spell and hasn’t been to the trials but she showed a good turn of speed in the back straight at her latest third so she is worth thought. CAPTOTHEMAX (8) was also going nicely at the trials prior to striking trouble at his debut performance and rates as a value chance.

SELECTIONS: DANGEROUS (7), JILLIBY WILLOW (8), ABOUTTIME (4), WESTERN SONADOR (6)

OVERVIEW: DANGEROUS (7) is resuming since a ninth in the Neville Gath at Melton in December. He defeated the old warrior Bulletproof Boy in a sizzling mile rate of 1.51.2 when he scored prior so he appears to be extremely well placed in this event. He did defeat WESTERN SONADOR (6) at a Shepparton trial effort on Thursday night. JILLIBY WILLOW (8) is a classy mare when racing at her peak form and she scored nicely at Terang three starts ago. She disappointed at her next attempt at Mount Gambier then was finishing off nicely from the back at Melton on Saturday night. She is worth thought against this line up. ABOUTTIME (4) met easier opposition at the trials but he showed brilliant early speed to lead from a wide draw and recorded fast time to win so he could give a bold showing first up. WESTERN SONADOR (6) has been racing against the Cup class with a fourth in the Shepparton Cup followed by a seventh in the Albury Cup. He will appreciate racing a field of less depth here and should go well.
