SELECTIONS: MEADOW VALLEY STAR (6), WATCH AND ACT (1), NEPHEW OF SONOKO (8), KYVALLEY PIERRO (7)

OVERVIEW: MEADOW VALLEY STAR (6) is a tough type and was able to win at his latest standing start appearance after commencing from the handicap of 20m and pushing forward to find the lead. He should be competitive if he is able to get away cleanly. WATCH AND ACT (1) is a standing start specialist and should receive an economical trip from the pole position so he is worth a ticket each way. NEPHEW OF SONOKO (8) is clearly the class runner of the field but he faces the tough handicap of 40m. He did score off the same mark two starts ago and his latest effort was behind the star trotter Keayang Zahara in the Dullard Cup so he must be respected. KYVALLEY PIERRO (7) has been lightly raced recently but he is proven from the standing start and has won two of his five starts for the season so he is not without a chance.

OVERVIEW: RIDDLEMETHIS (9) is racing extremely well and is ready to break through for a win. He settled in a rearward position and worked home nicely for a narrow second behind Bouy last outing. ILUVMYSELF (10) is a nicely bred first starter for trainer Courtney Slater, which finished third at her latest Geelong trial performance. She strikes a suitable field first up and is not without a chance. ALI MACHRISTA (8) hasn’t raced in over three years but she missed out narrowly after trailing the leader throughout at a Maryborough trial third last week and the final half was run in 57.0 seconds so she must be kept safe. COOL STORY (5) lacks early speed but has been finding the line well and has claims along with FIRESIDE (4), which has been performing nicely at the trials.

OVERVIEW: LITTLE MISS VALLEY (6) is a promising maiden, which apart from a fifth placing early in her career, has never finished further back than fourth. She finished off well when a close second behind Charlies Tactics last outing and is capable of going one better here. CALDERS REVENGE (11) broke stride at the start and lost all chance at Geelong last outing. She led out then took cover when second behind That’s My Cardigan prior and should be competitive if she gets away safely. LADY MANCHE (9) finished third in the race won by That’s My Cardigan at her debut then broke at the start and lost all chance when ninth in a heat of the Super Series. She has ability when she is able to put it altogether and is not without a chance. VIXAN (2) has been runner up in several recent trial performances and must be kept safe from her good draw.

OVERVIEW: PIESRIDINGSHOTGUN (5) went very quickly early to find the lead and peaked over the latter stages when sixth at Bendigo on Wednesday night. He should find the lead easier in this event and he finished a game second behind Montana Chevelle prior so he is worth another chance. CHAMPAGNES (9) has made a few errors recently but she has recorded five wins since July and should be competitive against this line up if she delivers a fool proof display. SHEZALOVER (10) should strip fitter after her first up sixth at Cranbourne, where she made an early error. She competed against better opposition when she was last in work so she must be respected. SKY LINDY (2) finished third behind Settle The Bill (won again since) after trailing the leader last outing and is drawn to gain a trail just behind the speed again so she is not without a chance.

SELECTIONS: WITH APLOMB (6), MIDNITE MUSCLE (7), OFF YOUR FACESKI (5), BILLY ZIPPIN (3)

OVERVIEW: WITH APLOMB (6) was safely held in both the heat and the final of the Super Series since returning from Queensland but this is a significant drop back in class and she gets her chance to improve. MIDNITE MUSCLE (7) progressed forward to find the lead and battled on bravely for third behind Settle The Bill last week. He has been placed at his past four attempts and should go well again in this grade. OFF YOUR FACESKI (5) began quickly to lead then took cover but was held up for a run at a vital stage and didn’t have the best of luck late at Bendigo on Wednesday night. This race is a little easier and his overall form is sound so he warrants respect. MADGE EGAN (2) and BILLY ZIPPIN (3) are both fast beginners and should be prominent throughout from their good draw.

OVERVIEW: MY HIGH PEAK (11) is resuming since June and has joined trainer Gerard Jamieson. He has gait issues but is quite handy when he is able to put it altogether and he did win a trial by a large margin on November 17 so he cannot be left out of calculations. CHARLIES TACTICS (7) is stepping up from the Maiden class but he won nicely at his debut performance and he was going well at the trials prior so he is not without a chance. PARLEZVOUS PATTY (4) has made a few errors recently but he has been racing against the best of his age group so he can improve under these conditions. COURAGES LAW (5) and BLACK AND GOLD (8) both performed well at Bendigo on Wednesday night and are a chance again.

OVERVIEW: It is a very open race with many winning chances. FAVOURITEHIGHLIGHT (10) is more versatile than most contesting this race so she gets the nod. She was narrowly beaten by her stable mate Treacheroustimes twice in succession prior to a fifth behind Princess Arna at Bendigo. JOEYS HANGOVER (5) broke stride and lost his chance at Bendigo last outing. His form prior was okay and he has been placed at a Bendigo trial since so he is worth another chance. PICKLE IT (2) generally performs best over the sprint distance but he is a fast beginner and is drawn to suit his racing pattern so he must be considered as a winning chance. MISS PIGGY WIGGY (3) will appreciate her easiest assignment for some time and is worth thought along with ALLHEARTNOHEIGHT (7).

SELECTIONS: PRINCESS ARNA (13), SOAR (4), TEX GOES BANG (12), MYNAMEISRUBY (11)

OVERVIEW: PRINCESS ARNA (13) was aggressively driven from the outside of the second line and was a big winner at Bendigo two starts ago. She settled on the markers and had no luck whatsoever over the concluding stages when ninth at Shepparton last week so she is worth another chance. SOAR (4) is a speedy pacer, which should be ready to strike peak form after having three starts since a break. He will find this race to be easier than his latest fifth behind Interpretation and appears to be a value hope. TEX GOES BANG (12) was suited by a genuine speed being set throughout when he outstayed his rivals at Shepparton last week. He is usually competitive against this class and is worth thought again. MYNAMEISRUBY (11) endured a tough trip when sixth last week. She was a winner under similar conditions on October 22 so she is capable of bouncing back here.

OVERVIEW:  LITTLEBLABBAMOUTH (4) won two races in succession in September prior to a third behind Hungry Hogarth in a slick mile rate of 1.56.4. Her past three unplaced performances were against much stronger opposition and she should give a bold showing under these conditions. FINAL BOW (7) produced a big finish out wide on the track to claim victory at Shepparton last week. She continues to build on her record having now won 31 races in her career and she should run a good race again. EYE SEE AMOUR (9) is first up without going to the trials but he has been competitive at a much higher level previously so he has the class to test this field. QUEENHIGH FLUSH (3) is a former New South Wales pacer, which has performing fairly well at the trials and has claims along with TOPHUT JOHNY (8).

OVERVIEW: JOE GOT ROLLED (13) is poorly drawn for her first up run since July but she was an impressive trial winner at Maryborough several weeks ago. She was competing at Metropolitan level at the end of her last campaign so this is a significant drop back in class and she should be competitive if she is somewhere near her peak. RAKAROMPA (11) was driven aggressively early but couldn’t get across to the markers when unplaced in a strong heat of the Super Series at her latest attempt. She was a runaway winner at Kilmore prior and will find this assignment to be more suitable. NETRA (9) is capable of sprinting to the line quickly with the right trail forward and dragged a flat tyre at her latest fourth so she is not without a chance. EAGLE MAJOR (3) finished nicely from a rearward position at Shepparton last week and he possesses early speed so he rates as a knockout chance.
