OVERVIEW DALLAS MIKI (12) broke stride at the start and lost his winning chance at Swan Hill last week. He produced a huge performance after circling around the field to find the lead from a similar bad draw when he scored in a sizzling mile rate of 1.56.5 two starts ago so he must be respected.: SHOTINTHEDARK (11) has won two of his past four starts and will appreciate a drop back in class from his latest fifth at Melton. He is versatile and should be competitive at his Mildura debut. MIDNIGHT PIRATE (8) led out then took cover and finished second behind DALLAS MIKI (12) at his latest attempt. He has a nice trailing draw and should run a good race again. TO THE NINES (2) endured a wide trip and had excuses when fifth behind HOOKLINEANDSINKER (6) last outing. He is much better drawn for this assignment and is worth another chance.

OVERVIEW: DOCTOR GO JOH (10) has been racing in reasonable form against better opposition and strikes a suitable assignment now. He finished off well for third at Mount Gambier two starts ago then followed with a close fifth at Terang. GRENADE (11) was held up for a run at a vital stage and finished off well for second behind the in-form pacer Maggacis then followed with another second behind that horse after working hard on March 20. He is poorly drawn but deserves to break through for a win. KEAYANG CRIPPA (7) has only missed a top four position once in nine starts for the season and should run his usual honest race. He is versatile and missed out narrowly after racing without cover throughout in similar grade two starts ago. CORNELIA (9) has shown improvement recently and is not without a chance.

OVERVIEW: XLENDI STAR (8) strikes a very suitable assignment for his debut and should go well. He has had three trials recently at Bacchus Marsh for a win and two seconds and his latest second was behind the recent race winner Rebel By The Sea with another recent winner in Illuminate Me being in third position so the form line is strong. THE NINJA (7) was placed eight times in succession against similar opposition prior to a sixth behind Priddy Carson last week, where he endured a torrid trip. He is awkwardly drawn but looms as one of the leading chances against this line up. TRYAGAINFREDDY (11) ran a better race at Swan Hill last week and rates as a value place hope. BRIEISBETTER (6) is an experienced maiden but she was runner up in a race of similar standard on February 04 and might be able to fill a place again.

BACK: XLENDI STAR (8) – 2 Units (win)

OVERVIEW: THE ART OF SUCCESS (7) couldn’t have drawn worse but she is clearly the class runner of the field and will prove hard to beat. She pushed forward from the second row to race without cover and went down fighting in a slick mile rate of 1.54.5 at Terang last outing. MAGGACIS (6) is racing in career best form having won at his past three attempts and all by comfortable margins. He raced out three horses wide for the last lap and did very well to score at Mildura last outing so he can take the next step forward. TOBYS SHOUT (8) is resuming since a ninth at Bendigo in July and hasn’t been to the trials. He did defeat a smart horse in Williams at a Bendigo victory back in October 2024 so he can be competitive if he is somewhere near his peak. ROCKNROLL LENNY (9) overcame a tough run when he scored at Mildura two starts ago and is not without a chance.

BACK: THE ART OF SUCCESS (7) – 3 units (win)

OVERVIEW: The 2024 Mildura Cup hero DANGEROUS (9) pushed forward to race without cover and won impressively at his first run since December. He defeated Bulletproof Boy in a sizzling mile rate of 1.51.2 three starts ago and appears to be well placed against this line up. The local hope MY ULTIMATE JIMMY (4) continues to build on his imposing record at Mildura and should make his presence felt. He led throughout when a comfortable winner at Mildura last week. METEOR MOTH (7) might not be suited on the smaller Mildura circuit considering he finished unplaced in the Ararat and Birchip Cups recently but he has been very impressive at his past two Melton successes and is sure to attract plenty of support. FORTY LOVE (6) competed during the Miracle Mile Carnival at Menangle then followed with a strong fourth behind METEOR MOTH (7) at Melton so he is racing better than his form reads. He is a tough competitor and is not without a chance.  

OVERVIEW: OUR ART WORK (5) is racing in career best form and is sure to give a bold showing. He began well but couldn’t get across to find the front and parked without cover throughout when a brave second in a mile rate of 1.54.4 at Swan Hill last week. JAXON BEACH (8) has been competing against the open grade at Mildura recently and appears to be very well placed against this line up. His game second behind Mildura Cup aspirant My Ultimate Jimmy on February 25 is a strong form pointer for this event. KEAYANG MOROCCAN (4) has also been competing against the open grade and has the speed to figure in the finish. NOBLE TRICK (7) lacks recent racing but he was able to win a Mildura trial last week by a comfortable margin and cannot be underestimated.

OVERVIEW: FOX DAN (6) is resuming since winning the Victoria Derby back in October but he will strip fitter after two recent trial performances with the latest being behind his star stable mate Bay of Biscay. He has the barrier draw advantage over his main rivals considering he commences off the front row and he will take beating. JILLIBY NITRO (8) is a speedy pacer and took out the Terang Cup over Miki To Success at his latest attempt, where he led out then took cover. He also finished off fast to win the Geelong Cup recently so he should be very competitive again. CAPTAIN PERFECT (7) is a strong pacer, which has won ten of his twenty starts. He was resuming since winning the Breeders Crown in December when he worked to the front and scored at Metropolitan level last outing and he should go well again but the barrier draw is against his usual racing pattern. SON OF MAC (3) and SANTA CASA BEACH (5) both possess early speed and are worth thought in multiple combinations.

BACK: FOX DAN (6) – 2 units (win)

OVERVIEW: LOSEASHOE (6) should be reaching his peak form after having two starts back from a spell and he will appreciate a drop back in class for this assignment. He was placed behind the in-form pacer Dallas Miki last outing and has the services of ace reinsman James Herbertson this evening. IM STUCK MAN (3) will appreciate the return to Mildura racing considering all of his 14 career victories have been on the track. He has been racing against stronger opposition and is versatile so he warrants respect. RONZEL MICKY (1) is capable of sprinting to the line quickly with the right trail forward and is a good chance of ending up being behind the leader from the pole position. She picked up some ground in the home straight when fifth at Swan Hill last week. CHEERS POVERTY (5) is a fast beginner and should be prominent throughout from his good draw.

BACK: LOSEASHOE (6) – 1.5 units (each way)

OVERVIEW: NEVS DREAM (3) is a brilliant beginner and is likely to try and lead all of the way. She has led throughout at her two recent victories and dominated her rivals on this track last week so she should take catching. INDIANAS SON (6) is poorly drawn but is racing in career best form. He has attempted to lead throughout before being run down over the latter stages when second at his past two attempts and won from behind the leader prior. DESTINY KEPT (8) hasn’t raced since December but she appeared to be very sharp at her latest Mildura trial success so she is not without a chance. ROJENBYE (5) and CALF PEN (7) are both capable of showing up without surprising.

OVERVIEW: STAR RULER (1) is backing up quickly from his effort at Cranbourne on Friday night but he performs best when he is able to lead and he will appreciate competing in a field of less depth here. G B BRAVE (4) has performed very well at his two starts since joining trainer Kate Attard and deserves to break through for a win. He was held up for a run at a vital stage and was unlucky at his Mildura debut then followed with a second behind the in-form mare Nevs Dream last outing. WHATA OPTIMIST (5) has been racing in good form in South Australia and looms as one of the leading chances. He recorded a quick mile rate of 1.57.4 when he scored at Globe Derby two starts ago then had little luck after commencing from the inside of the second line last outing. OUR MASTER PLAY (7) has performed below expectations recently but he has too much ability to dismiss.
