Boom trotting filly Rockinwithattitude is locked in for a Queensland winter campaign after her stunning Menangle raid collected a second Group 1 last weekend.

Trainer-driver David Miles raised the whip in celebration as his three-year-old beat the boys to capture the New South Wales Trotters Derby on Saturday night, seven days after landing the elite-level NSW Trotters Oaks at the same track.

And now an invitation has arrived from Racing Queensland for a start in the Group 1 Great Square, a new $150,000 feature for three and four-year-old trotters at Albion Park on July 8.

It is likely to serve as the first start in a three-run attack on the Sunshine State, with the Queensland Trotters Oaks and Derby to follow on July 15 and July 22.

“She’s going to draw well in the Great Square and the two weeks after is the Oaks and Derby. They’re both worth $30,000, so she’s going to pay for her trip you would think,” Miles said.

“Then we come home and the Need For Speed is in August, which is probably doubtful but on the radar if she’s doing really well.

“The Vicbred Super Series is in September, then you’ve got the Breeders Crown and the Victoria Trotters Oaks as well.”

Miles said Rockinwithattitude was a naturally athletic horse who didn’t require loads of work to maintain her fitness, and this meant more features could be targeted with her than perhaps some other rivals.

“We can probably have a throw at the stumps a little bit more than normal,” Miles said.

Rockinwithattitude has won Group 1 races at her last three starts, with the NSW Oaks and Derby preceded by victory in the Vicbred Super Series 2YO Trotting Fillies Final on December 31 last year.

The star daughter of Aldebaran Eagle was crowned Victorian 2YO Trotting Filly of the Year for her outstanding juvenile campaign, which netted nine wins from 14 starts.

“I don’t know whether she’s better or not this season, but as I said coming into it, we didn’t need to be better, we just needed to go as good as we did last year,” Miles said.

“She was quicker than the boys last year, and as long as she held her own, she was going to always be competitive…”

Rockinwithattitude led and dictated terms in Saturday night's Derby, racing clear in the straight to win by more than five metres over Melsadele and fellow Victorian raider Gotfeelingsyouknow.
