Ladies In Red produced a 54.36sec last half in the driving rain parked outside her greatest rival to win a 22nd career race on Saturday night.

Drawn barrier five, Emma Stewart’s wonder mare rolled straight to a spot outside early leader and stablemate Tough Tilly then put her to the sword when the sprint went on.

She cleared out to win by more than 13m over Tough Tilly (Stewart/Kate Gath), with Dougs Babe (Geoff Webster/Michael Bellman) grabbing third.

Ladies In Red took her earnings past $890,000 with the victory - her 18th for regular driver David Moran.

THE RACE:

Most speed-mappers would have had Tough Tilly leading from barrier two and Ladies In Red sitting parked to her from gate five - and that’s exactly how it panned out.

Tough Tilly went for home down the back straight the final time but couldn't shake Ladies In Red, who had levelled up to her moving inside the last 200m. She took the lead and charged clear in the concluding stages to record the second most dominant victory of her career.
