Aldebaran Tess smashed the Maryborough track record in an extraordinary front running performance, stripping nine-tenths of a second off Tornado Valley's 2190-metre benchmark to win her TAB Breeders Crown heat.

The audacious drive by Sofia Arviddson for trainer Matt Craven poured on the pressure throughout the Catanach's Jewellers three-year-old trotting fillies' second heat, setting up a stunning 10-metre victory.

They stopped the clock in a 1:57.0 mile rate, 0.9 under the time Tornado Valley set in winning the Trotters Free For All on Redwood Day in 2009 and 2.6 seconds quicker than the age/sex record set by Courchevel (1:59.6).

The result continues the stable's extraordinary season with three-year-old fillies, where Pink Galahs has taken all by storm in winning three Group 1s while Queen Of Crime was brave in running second in today's other three-year-old trotting fillies' heat.

From outside the front row, Arvidsson speared to the front and put the hammer down in a 40.5-second first quarter, 1.6 seconds quicker than any other heat.

And from there she didn't let up, following a 60.1-second first half with a 58.6-second last half that left her rivals scrambling to keep up, with favourite Im Ready Jet finishing second but 10 metres in arrears for reinsman Jason Lee and trainers Anton Golino and Jack MacKinnon.

Also advancing to the final with top six placings were Tailored Elegance (third), Ofortuna (fourth), Naked Ambition (fifth) and Imamaorijet (sixth).

Aldebaran Tess won for owner-breeder Aldebaran Lodge, who pared Muscle Hill with their mare Solar Powered.

The grade's first heat was also a briskly run affair when Golden Sunset produced her maiden victory for trainer-driver Juanita Breen.

In just her third start, having previously placed second twice, Golden Sunset battled valiantly to climb over the top of Craven's favourite Queen Of Crime and score.

Craven guided his Sportswriter filly to the front from gate one but not without pressure from Aldebaran Belle, who trainer-driver Glenn Conroy sat parked, eye-balling the favourite for much of the early going.

That would see a 42.5-second lead time followed by 30-second and 30.9-second quarters, almost four seconds quicker than any of the three-year-olds colts and geldings' heats had run their first 1390 metres.

Opportunity knocked for Breen and Golden Sunset, who advanced to the breeze at the bell and poured on more pressure, creeping ahead of a brave Queen Of Crime in the closing stages to score by four metres for owner-breeders Bill Morgan, Des Gilmore, John Gilmore and Paul Buckley.

Araignee Flair boxed on well to finish third and advance to the Group 1 final along with Venkman (fourth), Roblen Dancer (fifth) and Amunet (sixth).

Golden Sunset won in 1:59.4, which took two-tenths of Courchevel's age-track record, but it would only stand for a tick over 30 minutes until Aldebaran Tess re-wrote the record books.
