Tonight's barrier draw has only upped the anticipation for a heavyweight Breeders Crown final clash in the three-year-old trotting colts and geldings' class.

Harry Stamper drew gate two for trainer Joe Pace, directly inside Peter Manning’s fast starter Plymouth Chubb, and both will likely have aspirations of being first to the pegs in next Saturday night's On A Streak @ Haras Des Trotteurs Group 1 final.

Pace said Harry Stamper had “pulled up really well” from his heat win at Maryborough on Thursday, when Anthony Butt hustled him to the front early and held off all comers to score, with Plymouth Chubb 4.6 metres behind in second.

“He’s shown a bit more gate speed this time in and we’ve just asked him to do a bit more at the start,” Pace said. “We’ve still got Plymouth Chubb on our outside, he gets out very quick, but either way I think he’s got enough gate speed to hold him out.”

One reinsman who will be watching both entrants closely is Nathan Jack, who’ll steer Cravache Dor, winner of the class's other heat at Maryborough.

He’s drawn nine, directly behind Harry Stamper, and told TrotsVision he was “pretty happy with the draw”.

“Plymouth Chubb’s got great gate speed and I’d be surprised if he didn’t cross,” Jack said. “What happens (from) there I don’t know, but I’m sure if Harry Stamper’s going to do the re-take he’ll be doing plenty of work and that will play into our hands.”

WOODLANDS STUD 3YO TROTTING FILLIES

Chris Alford may need to perform another pegline extraction to extend Aldebaran Keepa’s winning record to five after the pride of Duncan McPherson’s camp drew inside the back row in the Woodlands Stud three-year-old trotting fillies' final.

Alford and Aldebaran Keepa were buried four back on the pegs in the Victoria Trotting Oaks only to rally for a memorable win and McPherson will be hoping for more heroics in next Saturday's Group 1 final.

“She’s done really well since she got over here,” McPherson said. “The last four she’s been successful, she has exceeded our expectations. If it’s a truly run race she should be there at the finish, if we can get her out.”

She’ll start behind Yabby Dam Farms entrant Courmayeur, who’s drawn gate one, immediately inside stablemate Revelstoke.

Reinsman Nathan Jack steered both in their semis, with Revelstoke running second to Aldebaran Keepa and Courmayeur winning, and, when pressed, said he’d likely favour steering the polemarker.

ALDEBARAN PARK 2YO TROTTING FILLIES

Another amazing window of opportunity knocks for young reinsman Jayden Barker after Rockinwithattitude drew a plum gate for Saturday night’s Breeders Crown trotting final.

The David Miles-trained two-year-old, who has a terrific, supportive ownership following, delivered Barker his first Group victory last month when he won the Tatlow Stakes.

Barker then looked to supersede that in the Group 1 Aldebaran Park Redwood Classic only to have broken gait when striking interference at the top of the final straight, but the pain of that defeat may soon be forgotten.

Part-owner Chris Holloway plucked gate number two at tonight’s draw for the Aldebaran Park Breeder Crown final for two-year-old fillies, placing Rockinwithattitude outside only Dichotomy in the draw.

ALDEBARAN PARK 2YO TROTTING COLTS & GELDINGS

KerryAnn Morris will likely take the reins of Dreambigaimhigh and hand husband Robbie the steer of Aldebaran Jensen.

That was the trainer’s initial determination after tonight's barrier draw for the Aldebaran Park two-year-old colts and geldings trotters final.

Dreambigaimhigh comes in after finishing second to The Locomotive in his heat and Morris told TrotsVision “I think he will improve a little bit off that run”.

“We were in two minds whether to bring him down, we’re happy with him where he is and we have a good enough draw,” she said.

Dreambigaimhigh drew gate four and stablemate Aldebaran Jensen gate 12, while heat winners Triumph Stride and The Locomotive drew gates five and eight respectively.
