While most eyes were on the Breeders Crown Series semi-finals, there was plenty of other action at Tabcorp Park Melton on Saturday night.

Here's some of the things you might have missed...

KATE Gath has been praised far and wide for running the New York City Marathon in support of EB Research Partnership Australia, and she dropped into the TrotsVision studio to chat about her experiences with Ryan Phelan and Jason Bonnington.

The 39-year-old Gath completed the famous race over the weekend in a time of 3.28.23hr, and returned home to Australia on Thursday in time to drive at the Breeders Crown semi-final meeting.

Gath won a heat of the A Rocknroll Dance Breeders Crown Series for three-year-old fillies with Encipher, and then partnered Tough Tilly - the horse named after EB sufferer Tilly Wilkes - to win the final race on the card, the TAB Breeders Crown Graduate Mares Free For All.

HARNESS racing’s emerging stars kicked off their 2022 Pony Trots Victoria Inter Dominion campaign with the opening round of heats at Tabcorp Park Melton on Saturday night.

Both qualifiers were taken out in grand style by Amelia Wallace and Lightning Jack, and the young horsewoman caught up with Rob Auber to chat about her success during the night’s TrotsVision coverage.

The series continues at Melton on November 18, before heats conclude at Shepparton on November 29.

There are heats for minis, shetlands and ponies, with six Victorian representatives to go through to the Pony Trot Inter Dominion Finals on December 10.

CRANBOURNE trainer-driver Scott Ewen and his old mate Bulletproof Boy clinched a long-awaited success in a thrilling edition of the Melton City Council Sprint.

Ewen settled in the one-out, one-back spot from his barrier three draw and the seven-year-old pacer sprinted best in the run home to score narrowly over Margaret Lee-trained pair Jilliby Nitro and Jilliby Sylvester.

The win was Bulletproof Boy's first since April 30 and sets him up nicely for a tilt at the SENTrack Inter Dominion Pacing Championship, which starts at Ballarat on November 26.

Ewen believes the sprint trip qualifiers at Shepparton on November 29 are a real chance for Bulletproof Boy to win an ID22 heat.

“If he gets a good draw, a decent draw there, I can’t see why he can’t actually win a heat to be honest," he said.

Bulletproof Boy's amazing career record now stands at 32 wins from 136 starts.

ALDEBARAN Zeus won't be taking part in the upcoming SENTrack Inter Dominion Trotting Championship through late November and early December, but continues to prevail against some of the best squaregaiters in the state.

The Brent Lilley-trained four-year-old claimed his fifth win this preparation with another bold front-running display, this time in the Aldebaran Park R C Freestone Trotters Free For All.

He found the top before sprinting hard in the final section of the race to hold off runner-up Sundons Courage and third place-getter Majestuoso, who caught the eye first-up from a break.

The reigning Victorian three-year-old trotting colt or gelding of the year, Aldebaran Zeus has now won 14 of 31 career starts and almost $250,000 in prizemoney.

All 11 of Saturday night's races were clocked by Triple S Data, which provided a full breakdown of sectionals for every runner on the card.
