Bronte ready to Sparkle as pony trots ID22 continues at Shepparton

When she is not jumping on her trampoline or eating pasta Bronte Lee is sparkling at Tabcorp Park Melton.

The eight-year-old pony trot driver had one of her biggest wins to date when her pony JB Sparkle won a heat of the Pony Trots Victoria Inter Dominion Championships on November 19.

It was “good” said Bronte in her TrotsVision interview following the success.

In that heat Buddy Major and his driver Cohen Tindale finished second and TP Manhattan, driven by Riley Pace, was third.

It was a successful night for Riley who won the minis and shetlands heat with his pony Where’s Wally, while the placings were filled by Ruby (driven by Josh Holm) and Teddy (driven by Lacey Hausler).

Riley and Where’s Wally have been consistent throughout the series so far, placing in the first round of ID22 heats at Melton on November 12. Amelia Walliss and her pony Lightning Jack won both of those Night One races.

The series now heads to the Goulburn Valley tomorrow night for the Saddleworld Shepparton ID22 heats – the last round of qualifiers for the pony trots Inter Dominion.

There will be a warm up race with all ponies combined and then two heats, one for minis and shetlands and the other for ponies.

All ponies will get the chance to qualify their fastest times in these heats and there are some new horses added to the mix on Tuesday, according to Pony Trots Victoria manager Jenni Lewis.

“Lil Apache, Pretty Cool, Milkshake and Shatahn will all be having their first start in the series,” Lewis said.

“This is the last round of ID heats and out of each height category two of the fastest ponies will be chosen as the Victorian representatives for Pony Trot Inter Dominion Finals on ID22 finals night at Melton on December 10.

“The representatives will wear Victorian colours and receive a special rug for their pony. Every pony we have in the shetlands and mini category will take part in the ID final but the pony division is hotly contested.”

Tomorrow night’s warm-up race and the first ID22 pony trots heat for minis and shetlands will be shown live on TrotsVision.com.au. The ponies heat will not be broadcast owing to Inter Dominion Pacing Championship commitments.
