Big friendly smiles have been filling Victorian winning circles as the Cranbourne Club 21 has shown nothing quite compares to a victory shared.
The ownership syndicate has enjoyed a hot streak with its 11 starters this season producing five wins and four placings, including The Falcon Prince scoring in Sunday's Woodlands Stud Pace on their home track.
“To have so many people on track cheering and celebrating two wins on Sunday night is what it is all about," Cranbourne racing manager Cam Gallagher said. "Whilst we only have a certain numbers of shares available, some members are splitting their shares with family and friends bringing even more people along for the experience.
“We still have eight shares available, but with the horses racing so well they may not be around for too long.”
The club started in 2019 with an initial three-year model that saw 100 members race seven horses. Initially the club’s stable star was Naked Ambition, who won seven races and took the team to Breeders Crown and Vicbred Super Series finals.
After the term expired this year the club altered the model slightly and now consists of a two-year term with up to 60 members who race four horses.
“The idea behind it was basically to attract more owners into the sport and get more people to race meetings, not just at Cranbourne but at all tracks,” Gallagher said.
“We also wanted to provide our local trainers with support getting horses into their stables and introducing new owners to them, while making it an affordable way to introduce people into horse ownership.”
Currently 52 members of the Cranbourne Club 21 syndicate are getting good a run for their money courtesy of the in-form Copacabana, Classy Countess, The Falcon Prince and Naked Ambition.
