The first pieces have fallen into place for the SENTrack Inter Dominion Pacing Championship, with the release of barrier draws for Saturday night’s first round of heats at Ballarat.
Horses will accumulate points for finishing positions across the three rounds of heats, with the leading 12 at the conclusion of the qualifiers securing a place in the rich $500,000 championship final at Tabcorp Park Melton on December 10.
In the first of the heats, noted gate speed runner Act Now will have to cross all on the front line if he hopes to find the top, while Geelong Pacing Cup winner Mach Dan has lobbed nicely in gate two.
New South Wales raider Expensive Ego is one of the favourites for the series and has barrier 10.
One of the series’ favourites Spirit Of St Louis has drawn poorly in barrier 12 in the second heat, with fellow big gun Majestic Cruiser landing a spot inside the second line.
Jess Tubbs’ star four-year-old Better Eclipse has come up with the inside gate for his qualifier and looks likely to start favourite in the third and final heat at Ballarat.
