Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) advises that tonight’s Echuca meeting has been abandoned due to the state of the track after rainfall today.
“Stewards assessed the track at about 3.15pm today and determined it was unsuitable for racing due to being waterlogged and inconsistent in several areas,” HRV Chairman of Stewards Brett Day said.
More money will be directed to breeders under a change to Vicbred first-win bonus allocations, which will take effect in Victoria from October 13.
Victorian hobby trainer Peter Wallis has broken a 28-year drought from the winner’s circle, preparing five-year-old gelding Orch (Lincoln Royal) to a victory at the Melton harness racing meeting on Friday night (Sept 26).
