Bronte Nieuwenburg has done the form for tonight’s meeting at Kilmore.
Race 1:
OVERVIEW: MIDNIGHT MOJO (1) was very impressive last start, winning at Melton. She has the best sectional times in this field and should have enough gate speed to take advantage of the ace barrier. ALIZA HILL (8) looks to get the perfect trip here behind the favourite and can be saved for one run on the fence. BLUE MIKI (9) sustained pressure when leading last start at Terang but still finished well in third. He has a barrier here to follow through early and not get used up. Second-best sectional times in this field. He looks well placed. ELIZAJANE (5) at her best has some ability. She has been racing a bit roughly recently, but she has performed well previously at her best. She’s prepared by the in-form Tasmyn Potter.
BACK: MIDNIGHT MOJO (1) – 3 units (win)
SELECTIONS: MIDNIGHT MOJO (1), ALIZA HILL (8), BLUE MIKI (9), ELIZAJANE (5)
Race 2:
OVERVIEW: KYVALLEY JUDGE (3) has started his career with a bang. Five starts for three strong wins and two good placings. He is clearly a very smart trotter with a bright future who will continue to progress through his grades. TICTOK (6) is the flashy chestnut with a brilliant turn of foot. If she finds some luck, she will be hitting the line well. RUN FOREST RUN (10) was a beaten favourite last start when finishing third, but his run prior was strong when winning and setting a new track record in the Birchip Trotters Cup. He’s had seven starts in Australia across three states but seems to be settling well now in the Alex Ashwood stable. WALLIS (7) was a good winner last start and he’s been racing very well this preparation. He’s got a tricky barrier draw here but is in form.
SELECTIONS: KYVALLEY JUDGE (3), TICTOK (6), RUN FOREST RUN (10), WALLIS (7)
Race 3:
OVERVIEW: MASTER LOUEY (5) is a well-bred Captaintreacherous-sired colt who was well beaten in his three starts last year. However, he’s come back this year with three strong trials. Tricky barrier, but Australia’s best driver James Herbertson takes the reins. ROCKINTHEKASBA (2) is a first starter who trialled OK recently, beaten 11.3 metres behind Just Incredible, who is a nice horse. Whatever he does here, he will improve. CAMERIA (3) is second up this year and will improve from her first-up run where she finished second at Bendigo, hitting the line strongly. She’s fast and should be able to find the fence here. THE FINAL DANCE (10) was impressive last start at Shepparton, sustaining a long, wide run. Tricky barrier here.
SELECTIONS: MASTER LOUEY (5), ROCKINTHEKASBA (2), CAMERIA (3), THE FINAL DANCE (10)
Race 4:
OVERVIEW: VERY TEMPTING (5) has the best sectional times in this field and has good gate speed here. If he can find a good position in running, he will be well placed. In what is not the strongest field, TOPZAVSKI (1) will appreciate the ace barrier to cover the least amount of ground on the fence. OSCAR BRAVO (2) battled on OK last start to finish fourth in a tougher race. He will be well suited if he can find the fence. ARCHAA (6) has good gate speed but faces the challenge of the horse inside him also having high speed. His third last start was promising, but he was able to find the fence.
BACK: AMBER ALERT (5) – 2 units (win)
SELECTIONS: VERY TEMPTING (5), TOPZAVSKI (1), OSCAR BRAVO (2), ARCHAA (6)
Race 5:
OVERVIEW: CATIES SON (1) has been in great form this year with a win and two seconds from four starts. He was unlucky last start but hit the line well. Flojos Best can absolutely fly the arm, but Caties Son should have enough speed to hold a forward position and use it to his advantage. SOHO HUDSON (8) is one of the best-bred horses in Australia and is still learning what racing is all about. When he gets his manners right, he can perform quite well. He did everything right last start, which is promising, and being the only horse on the back line, he has time, space and options early. FLOJOS BEST (6) has brilliant gate speed and generally is a fast mare. She is first up here, but if she gets a good trip she’s a good first four chance. RUMPELSTILTSKIN (4) has had one start in 2025 and two runs back this campaign. He would have needed a few starts to reach peak fitness and will be approaching that now. He does have ability and won a trial in February this year.
BACK: CATIES SON (1) – 2.5 units (win)
SELECTIONS: CATIES SON (1), SOHO HUDSON (8), FLOJOS BEST (6), RUMPELSTILTSKIN (4)
Race 6:
OVERVIEW: DELS DESTINY (4) has been racing well this preparation. He has the best sectional times and a strong last 800m. If he is close enough and saved for one run, he will be flashing home. BULLAPARK BENO (8) got it wrong early last start, but he’s the only horse on the back row here so he has time and space to settle early. He has often shown promise throughout his career and can make his own luck. MIELICKI (5) had a wing on every hoof last start when he flew home to win with Dan Mielicki calling the race. It was a win to remember and he comes in with confidence. BUSLIN BRODY (1) should have enough gate speed to hold a forward position and will appreciate a fence-line run.
SELECTIONS: DELS DESTINY (4), BULLAPARK BENO (8), MIELICKI (5), BUSLIN BRODY (1)
Race 7:
OVERVIEW: AMBER ALERT (3) has brilliant gate speed and should be able to find the front here. She is a fast mare and has James Herbertson on board. HURRICANE HOOLY (8) has the best recent sectional times in this field and comes from the in-form Dianne Giles and Leilani Justice team. She has options here being the only horse off the back row. WHERES WOOD WOOD (4) is stepping out for start 100 here. She went amiss last start and was sent for a freshen-up. She has a good turn of foot if she gets an easy run. THE ACCIDENTAL ONE (6) was a good winner three starts ago when leading. The following start she hit the line really well. There are some question marks over her last start as she seemed only fair. She won’t be able to find the front here, but with the right run she’s a good first four chance.
BACK: AMBER ALERT (3) – 2.5 units (win)
SELECTIONS: AMBER ALERT (3), HURRICANE HOOLY (8), WHERES WOOD WOOD (4), THE ACCIDENTAL ONE (6)
Race 8:
OVERVIEW: SHIRALEE (6) and MIKI MARK (7) both have the best recent times in this field. They have been racing well and competitively without winning. They are both in tricky starting positions but look the ones to beat. SALSBOY (8) is a good sit sprinter and won when getting the sprint lane two starts back at Charlton. Will get a fence-line run here and will be relying on luck. MYNAMEISRUBY (2) has good recent numerical form, finishing in the top three in six of her last seven starts. She has been close to winning and finds a better barrier over her main rivals here.
SELECTIONS: SHIRALEE (6), MIKI MARK (7), SALSBOY (8), MYNAMEISRUBY (2)
