Ryan Phelan has found some great value for the 8-race Boort Cup Day program.

8 – The Ninth Wave

3 – Zesta La Go Go

6 – Night Sky

4 – Maoris Return

The Ninth Wave has shown plenty of promise since joining the Danny O’Brien stable, delivering three impressive performances. First-up, he was rough at the start but powered home strongly. He then produced a huge run at Melton to claim second before overcoming a tricky draw to score convincingly at Stawell. If he brings his best manners, he can keep building on that momentum.

BACK: 8 The Ninth Wave – 3 Units (win)

R5 – 3:34pm – Boort The Northern Oasis Trotters Handicap – 2250m

8 – Night Whisperer

4 – Surprise To Me

R6 – 4:11pm – Hon.Peter Walsh Boort Trotters Cup – 2612m

6 – Double Helix

3 – Yankee Lover

8 – Aldebaran Demi

11 – Wish Upona Dream

Double Helix looks a terrific value play in the Trotters Cup and is a genuine winning chance. He took out the Echuca Cup around this time last year, leading all the way from the stand - an effort that bodes well for this track, where racing handy can be an advantage. Last prep, the Crone stable had enough confidence to test him in strong Queensland company, and he’s tuned up for this with a trial win. Jackie Barker jumps back aboard, which is a big plus, and he’s already a proven winner at this track who thrives from the stand. At massive odds - he’s an each-way special!

BACK: 6 Double Helix – 1.5 Units (win) 2.5 Units (place)

R7 – 4:44pm – Neil Beattie Family Boort Pacing Cup – 2612m

7 – Angus Indiana

1 – Collective Works

9 – Shadow Celt

5 – Lincoln River

Angus Indiana has made a promising start since joining the astute Freddy Taiba stable, delivering two solid performances. He was tough when sitting parked to score at Penrith, then had excuses at Menangle after being asked to do too much mid-race. Unbeaten over this distance (1 from 1) and now with the in-form James Herbertson in the sulky, he ticks plenty of boxes.

BACK: 7 Angus Indiana – 3 Units (win)

R8 – 5:29pm – Ed Carmody Tribute Female Drivers Pace – 1900m

9 – Dooo Don’t Think

8 – Tinsel Tiara

7 – Johnny Redcoat
