GRM celebration delayed to July 25 owing to COVID-19

The Gordon Rothacker Medal has been rescheduled to July 25, with Harness Racing Victoria’s awards night delayed almost a month owing to the state’s COVID-19 outbreak.

Initially set for June 27, the celebration will instead be moved to the last Sunday in July at the Palladium at Crown.

HRV General Manager – Marketing Andrew English said due to concerns about the outbreak and in consideration of the extension of the metropolitan Melbourne lockdown it was prudent to postpone the celebration.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused, but the situation is still very fluid and the health and safety of participants and event attendees must take priority,” English said.

“The event will be rescheduled to Sunday July 25 in anticipation of more favourable conditions at that time. As we have done previously, HRV has made this date a race-free day to allow all industry participants the opportunity to celebrate this wonderful event.”

He said those who had already RSVP’d for the medal night would have their bookings carry over to the new date.

To change a booking or purchase tickets contact Nikkita Ross (email NRoss@hrv.org.au,  phone (03) 8378 0279).

New details for the event are as follows:

When: Sunday July 25, pre-dinner drinks 6pm for a 6.30pm start

Where: Palladium at Crown, 8 Whiteman St, Southbank

Tickets: $160, including three-course dinner and drinks
