It took one of the great Inter Dominion drives but Anthony Butt broke through and put the proud family name on the greatest trots trophy.

The reinsman teamed with brother and trainer Tim to win the 2009 Inter Dominion with Mister Feelgood, picking off champion Blacks A Fake late in a race where they had "one of those nights where it all come together".

"It's always been the race, we grew up with it in New Zealand," Butt said. "None of my family had won it (and) they had won just about every big race around Australasia.

"It's such a hard race to win. You've got the best of the best - the best horses, the best trainers, the best drivers. To get them through a series is always a battle for the trainers."
