Jordan Chibnall is now searching for a new harness racing ambition after ticking off a major milestone with her victory at Yarra Valley early in the week.

The young reinswoman celebrated a 100th career winner less than a week after her 21st birthday, with Geoff Walker-trained The Chancer providing the joyous moment courtesy of a tough death seat display in the Hirsch Hill Estate Pace.

It was Chibnall’s second win from as many drives behind the six-year-old, who greeted the judge a little over a month earlier at Warragul.

“He tried hard and when I drove him at Warragul he tried really hard as well,” she said.

“And he’s pretty tough, so that’s a good asset for him – that he tries and he’s tough.”

Chibnall started her driving career on August 10, 2020 and piloted her first winner just six days later with Always A Duchess at Kilmore. After making her mark in Victoria, Chinball then moved to Tasmania for better opportunities in 2021 and enjoyed instant success, including victory in the state junior driver premiership.

A move back home to Victoria with partner Conor Crook followed in 2022 and Chibnall now works full time for Darraweit Guim trainer Lisa Miles.

“Lisa was a big push for me to drive. I didn’t really want to and she’s probably the main person behind me actually driving,” said Chibnall, who also credits Rita Burnett with helping guide her into the sport at a young age.

Chibnall said claiming her 100th career winner was a huge thrill, but means she must now look for new goals.

“I’ve wanted to outdrive my claim for a little while now. It was a good feeling to get it done, but it was a little bitter-sweet because now I’ve lost my five-point claim,” she said.

“Other than that, it was a really great feeling.

“Obviously outdriving my claim was my main goal, and now I’ve got to reassess and find a new one.”
