Champion Swedish stallion Maharajah, a multiple Group 1 winner on the European Grand Circuit, was the leading sire in three different countries in 2021 – Finland, Norway and Sweden – according to the classicfamilies.net website.

The son of Viking Kronos, a dual premiership-winning sire in Sweden himself, stands at the prestige Menhammar Stud in Sweden where he was born.

Maharajah has topped the Swedish sires’ list for the last two years and was the leading sire also in Switzerland in 2020.

Ready Cash, the great contemporary of Maharajah, was the leading sire in France for the sixth time in the last nine seasons, while his champion son Bird Parker topped the Belgian sires’ premiership in 2021.

In Italy, the mighty Varenne topped the table for a record 11th consecutive season.

Love You (pictured), the premier sire in 11 different countries during his stud career, headed the list in the Netherlands and Switzerland in 2021. He has claimed the Dutch title on no less than eight occasions and the Swiss premiership six times.

Three sons of intercontinental trotter S J’s Photo in Ens Snapshot, S J’s Caviar and Light Kronos headed the sires’ table in Denmark, Germany and Austria respectively. The American-bred En’s Snapshot has been the leading Danish stallion for five of the last seven seasons.

The Elitloppet winner From Above, a studmate of Maharajah, topped the Spanish sires’ premiership for the third year on end and for the fifth time in the last eight years.

Conway Hall, the former USA and Canadian 2YO Trotting Colt of the Year, figured as the sire of the champion stallion in both Estonia and Lithuania (Always Alluring) and Hungary (Maximus Lindy).

A further three French-bred stallions in Uniclove, Jasmin d’Odyssee and Vulcain de Vandel topped the sires’ lists in Slovenia, Serbia and the Czech Republic respectively in 2021.
