Undefeated from three starts since returning from a spell, The Dark Thunder’s victories include the Boort and Wangaratta Trotters’ Cups.
On Sunday the son of Skyvalley will head to Charlton for the club’s flagship event, with Mifsud confident of completing a cup hat-trick.
“I’m living the dream with him…couldn’t be more stoked,” Mifsud said. “He has come back so well from his spell and is putting his form on the board.
“Of course he can again this week! It’s more of a fingers crossed situation to be honest, but I have faith in him.
“He made a mistake from the stand, but still won in Boort, but I’m not sure he can afford to do that this time.
“There were only five runners in Boort, but there are quite a few off the front this time and it’s a bigger field, so there is no room for error.”

Despite his perfect record this campaign, the gelding is on the sixth line of betting at $8.
Runner-up in the Ararat Trotters’ Cup two starts ago, Avant Guard heads the market at $3.80 from a 10-metre handicap.
Avant Guard’s Ross Graham-trained stablemate Nephew Of Sonoko is the second elect at $4 from a 30-metre backmark.
“It’s hard to say which is the one to beat,” Mifsud said. “They’re trotters, so they’re all hard to beat as so often it comes down to which one trots better on the day, especially from the stand.”
