Five horses have jumped into the Metrospective Blackbook following Saturday night’s nine-race program at Victorian harness headquarters.
Jason Bonnington and Nikkita Ross reviewed the card on SEN Track on Monday and identified some horses to follow from the meeting.
You can see the updated Blackbook at the bottom of the page.
MELTON BLACKBOOK ENTRIES
JUNE 4
ENCHANTED STRIDE
R2 N8
NR: First-up after some handy trials and was still travelling when held up during a quick third quarter. Only saw clear air when they were really running and did all that she could considering. Will be following her and she can break through early this preparation.
IMAMAORIJET
R4 N8
JB: This mare has obviously been in super form of late, but Saturday night’s contest was a step-up in grade and she met that challenge very well. Keep following her wherever she goes next.
NR: A mare who has been really racing well, but faced a step-up in grade on the weekend. She got a long way back and was excellent making up the ground she did in the straight.
VINCENZINA
R6 N5
JB: It’s hard not to love the way this Brosnan-trained mare is regularly rifling home at present. She won’t win dramatically out of turn, but typically starts at massive quotes so finding her to place is lucrative enough.
SHEFFIELD SPARKY
R6 N11
JB: We’ve always known he’s a good horse, but that eye-catching last-start finish at HQ was an excellent step in the right direction early in this campaign. Follow him from here, particularly in races with solid top-end tempo.
NR: We probably questioned where he was at in the past, but his last two runs have been encouraging. Was looking for gaps and hitting the line strongly on Saturday night, and is definitely trending in the right direction.
TUPPENCE
R6 N7
NR: Worked early and when unable to find the top, he was forced to sit parked. Stuck on well to be beaten under 3m. Has the gate speed and if he can find the pegs, we could see another win such as what he produced two starts back.
