Saturday night metropolitan racing will head on a tour around the state through July as major works are undertaken at Tabcorp Park Melton.

Shepparton, Cranbourne, Ballarat, Kilmore and Bendigo will each host weekend metro cards while Victorian harness racing headquarters is out of action.

Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) General Manager Racing and Wagering Stephen Bell said two major projects were being completed at Tabcorp Park through July.

“The lights are being upgraded to LED lights and there is also infield works being completed,” Bell said.

“Basically, the infield is being made completely flat as to accommodate for non-race meeting activities such as concerts and markets.”

Alternative arrangements will be made to the trial schedule during the break from Melton, Bell said.

Shepparton kicks off the country roadshow on July 2, with Cranbourne (July 9), Ballarat (July 16), Kilmore (July 23) and Bendigo (July 30) to follow before Melton welcomes back metro racing on August 6.
