A hefty $US6.7 million in stakemoney will be up for grabs in 12 races for the North American Breeders Crown to be held at Woodbine Mohawk Park, Ontario, Canada on Friday and Saturday.

The prestigious year-ending championships will be crucial in voting for divisional and Horse of the Year honours.

The $2.4 million freshman championships, with $600,000 finals for two-year-olds of both sexes and gaits, will be contested on Friday.

The most interesting runner in the pacing colts' division, particularly from a ‘down under’ viewpoint, is Handlelikeaporsche (pictured), who is a son of the former New Zealand superstar Lazarus and one of his first crop.

An elimination winner in 1:51.8, Handlelikeaporsche has won four and has been three times placed from seven starts for $245,000. He has drawn the two gate in the final.

The $4.3-million championship card for three-year-olds and older competition is set for next Saturday.

Three-year-olds of both sexes and gaits, and Open and Open Male pacers, will vie for $600,000 in prizemoney in each division, while the Open Mare Pace and Trot finals will both carry a stake of $350,000.

The Open female division will feature two of the best mares produced in Australasia during recent years in No Win No Feed and Amazing Dream. They have drawn barriers seven and eight respectively.

No Win No Feed, a New South Wales-bred daughter of the Queensland-based A Rocknroll Dance, will attempt to win a third Breeders Crown trophy, having won the Crown Championship at Tabcorp Park Melton at three and four years.

No Win No Feed has won 10 of 28 races and earned $201,634 in her first season of racing in North America, while Amazing Dream has won twice with six placings from 15 starts for $187,641.

Test Of Faith, the reigning USA Horse of the Year who is attempting to become the first female pacer ever to win the Crown at both three and four, is the ruling favourite for this division.

Bulldog Hanover (1:45.8), the fastest pacer of all time, will be the headline act in the Breeders Crown Open Pace.

Two sons of the Woodlands Stud stallion Downbytheseaside in Bythemissal, winner of the Little Brown Jug and Adios Pace, and the North America Cup winner Pebble Beach – both Breeders Crown elimination winners - will lock horns in the three-year-old colts and geldings’ final.
