Ride High is set to commence life as a stallion while working towards a possible return to the racetrack in coming months.

The Clayton Tonkin-trained speedster has been offered to Australian breeders for a fee of $4,950 (including GST) and will start serving mares next season.

The winner of 16 of his 18 career starts, including the Group 1 Breeders Crown Series 3YO Colts and Geldings Final in 2018, was advertised on the Alabar website yesterday.

“I’ve never trained a horse with more talent than Ride High,” Tonkin told alabar.com.au.

“He is a magnificent individual who just exudes power. He has the most efficient gait and a great mind. He really has it all.

“I believe he’ll make a great stallion because he has the rare talent, the breeding and the looks – he ticks every box.”

Ride High, a son of Art Major, is a half-brother to Australian 3YO Pacing Filly of the Year Rocknroll Magic, and comes from the same family as horses such as Safe And Sound, Major Secret and Beauty Secret.

Alabar’s Alan Galloway purchased a half share in Ride High last year and is in awe of his ability.

“I’ve been all around the world and seen the best of the best, most of them in the flesh, and this horse is next level,” he said.

“The way he gets over the ground so easily and the times he runs without being asked … he’s just amazing.”

After smashing records all over the place, Ride High’s winning streak of 11 was broken when he was beaten at Tabcorp Park Melton in October. Subsequent checks revealed an injury and the horse is yet to return to the track.

Fellow superstar Lochinvar Art will also commence stud duties soon as he works towards a return from his own injury issues, hopefully in time for the 2021 Inter Dominion Championships late this year.
