Rothacker Medal: Nominations welcomed

The champions – equine and human – of the 2018-19 Victorian harness racing season will converge on Crown Palladium to be honoured at the industry’s night of nights, the 2019 Gordon Rothacker Medal on Sunday October 27.

Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) has not scheduled any racing on October 27 to allow all industry participants the opportunity to celebrate GRM19.

HRV is calling for nominations for potential Gordon Rothacker Medal candidates.

The selection panel will assess each nomination and base a decision on the following criteria when selecting the 2019 Gordon Rothacker medallist:

  • Contribution to harness racing in Victoria (past and present);
  • Length of industry involvement;
  • Held (voluntary or paid) key positions within the industry;
  • Demonstrated excellence within a chosen field;
  • Significant personal achievement;
  • Service as a role model/mentor;
  • Integrity

To nominate someone for consideration for the 2019 Gordon Rothacker Medal, please email the name of the nominee and a brief summary of supportive information (achievements, positions held in the industry, length of service etc) to Victoria Mstari (vmstari@hrv.org.au) by close of business on Friday 30 August.

Tickets for the 2019 Gordon Rothacker Medal night will shortly go on sale. Stay tuned for an announcement from HRV but save the date Sunday October 27.
