Siblings to a host of past Australasian Premier Trotting Sale graduates will go up for auction at the Nutrien Equine Standardbred Yearling Sale at Oaklands Junction on Sunday.
The list includes the Breeders Crown champions Cover Of Darkness, Just A Bit Touchy and Kyvalley Kyrie, the Vicbred champions Banglez, Kyvalley Clichy and Needabacardi, the dual Oaks winner Royal Charlotte and Alpha Male (Need For Speed and Homegrown Classic).
The 71 trotting bred yearlings catalogued for the sale represent an equine smorgasbord of blue bloods.
Besides the abovementioned, there’s brothers or half-brothers to the fastest ever Australasian bred trotter Majestic Player (1:51.2), the Inter Dominion heat winner Timothy Red, the Victoria Derby and Oaks winner Une Belle Allure, Aldebaran Misty (Vicbred Homegrown Classic) and Fear Not ($196,000) and sisters or half-sisters to the Victoria Oaks winner Pretty Majestic, Vicbred champions Kinvara Sue and Mister Castleton, Maorisfavouritesun (Vicbred Platinum) and Kincaslough (NZ Summer FFA).
Among the top racemares with progeny in the sale are the Australian 2YO, 3YO and 4YO of the Year Claudy’s Princess, the Derby winners Illawong Helios, Shezoneoftheboyz and Une Belle Allure, the dual Oaks winner She’s An Image, the Breeders Crown champion Val Gardena, Pizza Queen (NSW Oaks), the Vicbred champions Aldebaran Eve and Betty Hall, Aleppo Midas, Courcheval, Miss Warbucks, Naughty III USA, Zhenya, Cyclone Jeter and Jumanji Franco.
The sale has stock by 18 individual sires represented across 19 different vendors.
Haras Des Trotteurs’ Volstead USA is the most represented sire in the catalogue, with 17 yearlings from his first crop, while Nevele R’s Father Patrick has 11 and Alabar’s Majestic Son (10).
Pat Driscoll’s Yabby Dam Farms has the largest consignment with 23 lots, while Aldebaran Park has 12.
With the sponsorship of Haras Des Trotteurs, trotters purchased from the Melbourne and Sydney sales will be eligible to compete in separate $62,500 Finals for two-year-olds in 2023 and $125,000 Finals for three-year-olds in 2024. The four Finals will be held at Melton.
