The Goodform Gameplan: Tabcorp Park Melton Saturday 20th June

With the confusion over potential Map scenarios and the mercurial nature of the contestants engaged I don’t have any great interest in playing here but I feel confident enough that JUSTICE SERVED (1) can lead here I’m willing to back JUILIUSTIGRES (8) at $7 or better and $8 is available so we’ll have a very casual wager.

SUGGESTED BETS: $10 Each Way on Juliustigres (8) @ $7 or better

I’m pretty confident ARABELLA STAR (4) will win this second event but with all the front line speed engaged I couldn’t take anything like the $1.65 currently on offer about her and there’s enough doubt about those likely to join her on the podium that exotics don’t really appeal either. For that reason we’ll probably stay out aside from playing through the Early Quad.

SUGGESTED BETS: Nothing significant (Confidence rating that Arabella Star will win)

Even though he’s twice been rolled at prohibitively short odds since moving to Australia this does look an ideal assignment for PUR DAN (3). That being said I’d much rather play a couple of staggered Trifectas with him to run first or second than back him at $1.70 which is too short for my liking. There is also a temptation to play SPORTZSCRIBE (8) Each Way because $11 seems well over the odds but I can also see him being hopelessly held up late so exotics will win the day.

Flexi Trifecta: 8,11/ 3/ 4,8,9,11: $6 gets 100%

Yet another race where the market dictates that there’s no attractive straight out option here but once again with limited winning option we can play exotics with some degree of confidence. It would very much shock if either ZIGZAGZOO (1) or IMSETTOGO (11) didn’t win this contest and with a small number of horses that can join them dais we have an opportunity to make some money via the Trick.

SUGGESTED BET: Flexi Trifecta: 1,11/ 1,4,6,8,11/ 1,4,6,8,11 ($60 gets 250%)

When assessing the form for this event I had every intention of back FREDDY FUNK (9) If I could get $3.50 or better but at his current quote of $2.90 he just doesn’t represent the value required to get involved. The key winning hopes are he and SINGLE TREE ROAD (3) so we have a good guide on how to start our major Quads but most of the remaining runners are too even to give us the options we require for a decent multiple investment.

SUGGESTED BET: Nothing significant 

There’s no doubt in my mind that MCLOVIN (6) will both lead and win the fast  class trot and I tend to think playing wide in one single First Four where we may jag the result but still lose money is the wisest play as I can’t separate the next four runners behind the red hot fave.

The only question mark hanging over this race is will RIDE HIGH (2) ping straight to the front or will he let MAJOR TIMES (7) blaze across early before wresting the lead from him soon thereafter. I have ultimately settled on the former map being an 80% chance of materialising so the exotic wagers below are representative of that fact.

SMART LITTLE SHARD (2) is my Best Bet on the programme so I’m willing to back him even though $2.70 doesn’t represent terrific value but this is also a wonderful exotic betting affair given little separates SMART LITTLE SHARD (2) and COCOSFELLA (4) and IDEALSOMEMAGIC (3) is a clear third pick.
