An eye-catching trial by unraced filly Sharp Interest has Harness Racing Victoria form guru Craig Rail excited with what’s to come.
“He sprinted quickly and got away from his rivals at the end to win untouched so it was an impressive display,” Rail said.

Trial 3: – MAORIS MAC prepared for her tilt at the Super Series at Geelong tonight with a good performance in the third event. She pushed forward to find the lead and ran along at an even tempo before holding her rivals safely at bay. PRETTYBOY HARRY settled three back on the inside, moved off the pegs at the 500m mark and moved up to join the leader approaching the home turn. He hung out on the home turn but regathered his momentum in the straight and battled on well for second. WORTH WAITING enjoyed a nice trail behind the leader, dropped off a length or two before the home turn but rallied nicely via the sprint lane over the latter stages to finish a close up third. PRETTYBOY HARRY and WORTH WAITING are both competing in Super Series events at Geelong this evening.

Trial 4: – SHARP INTEREST began quickly to find the lead then took cover. He was three back on the markers from the 1400m before commencing his winning run in the back straight on the final occasion. He sprinted quickly and got away from his rivals at the end to win untouched so it was an impressive display. CAPTAIN CHEDDAR began quickly and pushed forward to lead shortly after the start before taking cover at the 1400m. He finished in second ahead of REASON TO SCREAM, which sat four back on the markers for the majority of the journey and BOWLA BOYS, which was driven aggressively early to find the lead in the back straight on the first occasion, was the fourth horse across the line. The second placed CAPTAIN CHEDDAR will be competing at Wagga this afternoon.

Trial 5: – LOCKSLEY CAVALIER prepared for his heat of the Super Series at Geelong tonight with a comfortable win in the final trial. He was four back on the markers, moved into the one out and one back trail, got left without cover at the 700m then found the back of the leader at the quarter pole. He went back to the sprint lane in the home straight and finished off swiftly to win clearly. MISS OHANA was five back on the markers early, moved into the running lane (1-2) and ended up being in the one out and one back trail. She came out three horses wide on the home turn and finished off well for second. She backed up with a second placed effort behind the star filly Gatesys Gem in a heat of the Super Series at Maryborough on Wednesday. SKY LINDY finished third after attempting to lead throughout and will be backing up in a heat of the Super Series at Geelong this evening.

Trial 1: – The Nutrien Classic winner PROHIBITED GRACE prepared for her first up run in a heat of the Super Series with a narrow victory over the recent race winner RINGER WELLS. She was unlucky in her heat performance at Maryborough on Wednesday and showed enough ability to suggest she can be competitive at her next race track appearance. RINGER WELLS is backing up in a heat of the Super Series at Geelong this evening. CALL ME JACK finished in third with ROCKY VALLEY being fourth across the line and both horses are also backing up at Geelong this evening. SCAR was last across the line then went to Terang on Monday and looked to be a big winning chance before galloping when leading clearly with 500m remaining.

Trial 3: – DEUCE COUPE NZ recorded fast time on the way to his runaway victory in the third event. He has won several trials recently but hasn’t been able to break through on race day. His win on Saturday was in very fast time and he scored by fifteen metres so the signs are encouraging that he might be able to secure a win in the near future. TRINITYS DELIGHT finished in second position and was well clear of LETS GO AGAIN, which was able to produce his maiden success at Cranbourne at his latest attempt. TRINITYS DELIGHT is backing up at Cranbourne on Sunday and LETS GO AGAIN is scheduled to compete at Yarra Valley on Monday.

Trial 4: – FREMARKS PEGGY has been trotting in good form and kept the momentum rolling with a comfortable victory in the fourth event. MAJESTIC PARTY BOY has been showing promise at the trials and unfortunately galloped away when making his debut. He returned to the trials on Saturday with a second placed effort. FREMARKS PEGGY and MAJESTIC PARTY BOY are both contesting heats of the Super Series at Geelong this evening. NUCLEAR ATTITUDE finished in third position and backed up with a reasonable effort at Terang on Monday afternoon, where he made some ground in the latter stages of the event.

Trial 5: – JUSTALITTLESIP NZ is a handy open class performer and was clearly the superior horse in the field with his National Rating being 23 points higher than his nearest rival. He recorded slick final sectionals and dominated his rivals to win by twenty -five metres. TELEMACHUS hasn’t started since finishing fourth back in December and was second past the post, well clear of KHANS CREED. VULUNTEER NZ and MAJALINER were fourth and fifth respectively in a trial where there were large gaps between the place getters with a genuine tempo being set throughout. TELEMACHUS will resume from a break at Cranbourne on Sunday.

Trial 1: – VICTORY GEORGE showed very good gate speed to lead and set up a slow tempo. He had a good kick left at the finish and was able to hold on and win. That performance would have given him plenty of confidence leading up to his performance at Mildura this afternoon. MIKI TO SUCCESS was stood down after breaking stride momentarily at the 1400m in his Super Series heat victory at Kilmore on Thursday night. He needed to re-qualify to be able to compete in tomorrow night’s semi-final and was able to do everything right. He settled three back on the markers, waited for the sprint lane and drove through for second and had plenty left in reserve. MAJOR DRAMA finished last of the three runners after trailing the leader and coming to the outside on the home turn.

Trial 3: – NAMELLA showed very good gate speed to find the lead and was always in control of the trial. He went to the line untouched to win clearly and backed up at Ballarat on Thursday night but failed to beat a runner to the line. ATEGO BARBARAJOAN settled three back on the markers, waited for the sprint lane and finished off well for second. SECRET CHANCE was third across the line after trailing the leader and coming to the outside at the 300m.

Trial 4: – REMI LOU settled three back on the markers, moved up without cover at the 500m and sustained a strong run to win impressively. THE SILENT ASSASSIN trailed the leader, was held up for a run at a vital stage and was doing his best work at the end to finish in second. EL RESAMO began very quickly to find the lead and ran along at a genuine tempo. He battled on well for a close up third considering he was taking on the pacers. He backed up that performance with his effort in the John Slack Memorial Trotters Cup at Ballarat on Thursday night but finished unplaced behind the champion trotter Just Believe.

Race 1: – SIR CHOW NZ showed very good gate speed to find the lead and set up an even tempo throughout. He remained strong at the finish and was able to hold off his rivals in the run to the finish. It was a good effort leading up to his performance at Cranbourne on Sunday night. MASTER REMI began well and was without cover in the early stages. He had a decent crack for the lead in the front straight on the first occasion and ended up angling in behind the speed at the bell. He went back to the sprint lane in the straight and tried very hard but found SIR CHOW NZ to be a little too good for him at the end. He is also competing at Cranbourne on Sunday evening. HEZA DOOZIE came from last of the four runners to work into third placing.

Trial 1: – IM ALRIGHT JACK began quickly and progressed forward to work past the early leader RAINBOW RAIN to find the top. He was always in control of the trial and dashed well clear at the end to win by a large margin. RAINBOW RAIN wanted to race fiercely in the early stages but settled better once he gained cover. He finished in second with CORZAN DRAMA being third across the line after being in the one out and one back trail early, switching back to the markers to be last of the four runners at the 1700m and moving up without cover from the 900m mark. RAINBOW RAIN is scheduled to compete at Mildura this afternoon.

Trial 3: – IM BLINGIN IT produced a very good performance to take out the third event. He raced without cover in the early stages, pressured the leader but couldn’t find the top and restrained to be three back on the markers. He raced fiercely mid-race but still had a good kick left after leaving the markers at the 600m. LOSEASHOE worked to the front shortly after the start and battled on bravely at the end after copping pressure mid-race to go down by a narrow margin. NIGHT SPIRIT was third across the line after trailing the leader throughout.

Trial 3: – ARCEE PHOENIX settled three back on the inside, moved into the one out and one back trail at the quarter pole and came out three horses wide on the home turn. He finished off best to win nicely and gave him some confidence leading into the John Slack Memorial at Ballarat on Thursday night. He finished fifth in that first up performance behind the champion trotter Just Believe. ROCKINWITHATTITUDE trailed behind the leader TOUGH LOVE, was the first to make a move and hit the lead on the home turn before being run down in the latter stages. She is competing in a heat of the Super Series this evening. TOUGH LOVE was last of the three runners across the line.

Trial 4: – SWEET DIXIE led out then took cover at the 1300m mark. She waited for the sprint lane and accelerated nicely to win by a comfortable margin. SCOOP LINDEN trailed the leader before swapping positions with SWEET DIXIE mid-race. She was run down in the latter stages but she did set up an even tempo. ONE LAST BELLE finished in third after being three back on the markers and moving into the death seat at the 500m mark.

Trial 6: – LOUIE LOU I NZ began quickly to find the lead and finished off in slick final sectionals to win clearly. He was able to defeat BINALONG WEEK, which settled three back on the markers, waited for the sprint lane and finished off fast. It was a very good performance considering his National Rating was the lowest of the four runners competing in the trial. ROCK PHONE was third after trailing the leader and MOST TRIUMPHANT was last of the four runners throughout.
