Vicbred Super Series two-year-old champ Kimble is ready to return to the races and Craig Rail is tipping he might do so in winning fashion.

Matthew Craven's Group 1 winner put in a good display to win a trial at Terang on August 17 and will step out at Horsham on Monday for a first-up assignment.

He is one of two Blackbook entries this week, with the other being unraced Rock N Roll Heaven gelding Roll The Aces for trainer Wayne Potter.

BACCHUS MARSH 14/08/21

Trial 1: - RENDEZVOUS hasn’t raced since May and that was his only run this year. He was a winner at Melton in September 2020 and was able to win nicely in the opening trial. SAMMYS OUR GIRL (Goodtime Sammy – The Summer Wind 2.2.8, $16,593) is by Goodtime Sammy, which retired undefeated from four starts with his wins including the Youthful Stakes and a semi-final of the Australian Gold. She has been showing some promise at the trials and finished in second position. JASPERINE is lightly raced having only had three starts. She hasn’t raced since December where she was stood down to trial. She finished third ahead of STYLISH IN BLACK, which resumes from a spell at Melton on Tuesday and ARTS CLASSIC was the last one to complete the course.

Trial 2: - OURBEACHBABE was the only horse in the trial, which had race experience and was able to take the prize. She has been placed in four of her six starts to date with her latest performance yielding a third at Stawell in fast time. GENERAL LINCOLN (Sir Lincoln (Lincoln Royal) – Miss Sweethart) finished in second position for trainer Sergio Lenardi with POTRO (A Rocknroll Dance – Ultimate Cullen) and RAINBOW REACTOR (Auckland Reactor – Mystical Rainbow) being third and fourth respectively.

Trial 3: - CRUZ has returned from a long stint in New South Wales and Queensland and was clearly the class runner of the trial considering he has a National Rating of 120, boasts a career best mile of 1.49.9 and won at Group 2 level in December. He was able to win clearly from SOMEBEACHSHADOW, which finished sixth in the Popular Alm Sprint at his latest race track performance. IMA DENNY TOO has built up a consistent record since coming from New Zealand and finished third ahead of JACKS COMMAND and DIAMOND GRACE was the last one to complete the course.

Trial 4: - HES THEMIGHTYSPIN was able to take out trial four on his way to his effort at Ballarat on Wednesday night. He was left without cover and pulled hard before tiring into ninth at his Ballarat performance. DARING ANGEL has been freshened since an unplaced effort in June and finished second ahead of MADENA SKY, which used her trials at Bacchus Marsh and Geelong as a stepping stone to her performance at Cranbourne on Sunday night. ALLANON is also racing at Cranbourne and finished in fourth position ahead of RAGNA THOR, which is now being prepared by trainer Jeremy Quinlan and backed up to finish second at Kilmore on Thursday. HES THEMIGHTYSPIN and DARING ANGEL will have a rematch at Melton on Tuesday night.

Trial 5: - GO ACCUSED hasn’t raced since March 2020 and has had a few trials as a lead up to her first run for trainer Jeff Hurley. She was able to win over MAGIC STORM, which hasn’t started since December. PEDANTIC finished just over a length away in third position with the Tim Mcguigan prepared MY LINDSAY BELL being in fourth spot. ORANDA PRINCE (Union Guy – Ah Dinnae Ken) was the only horse in the trial that hadn’t started previously and finished fifth ahead of TOTALLY SHATTERED, which finished tailed off.

Trial 6: - CHEDALAYO was placed at her first three attempts and was spelled after her first unplaced performance in March. She has some ability and took out the trial for the juvenile pacers by a comfortable margin as a lead up to her performance at Bendigo tonight. FLOWERTOP MOUNTAIN (Highview Tommy – Five Star Belle 1.59.4, $18,488) has had a few trial performances recently and finished second with GIPSY PRINCESS (Betting Line – Christian Melody 1.56.2, $212,580) being in third spot. JAGUAR JAY (Guaranteed – Black Cougar 1.56.9, $60,405) was the last one home and backed up at the Geelong trials on Tuesday night.

Trial 7: - WINGMAN FLING is a strong trotter and has been in good form throughout the season. He was able to record reasonable time at his trial victory and backs up as one of the leading chances at Cranbourne on Sunday. FLOATING MOUNTAIN finished in second position and backed up at Ballarat on Wednesday night with a handy finishing fourth, which is a good form pointer to the chances of WINGMAN FLING on the weekend. FLOATING MOUNTAIN will race again at Melton on Tuesday night, where he has drawn to go well. ALDEBARAN STEVIE hasn’t raced since May and was able to fill third position ahead of GEE CEE CALDER and the qualifier ANOTHER NIP (Bacardi Lindy – Cassies Price 2.4.8, $9,181) was last of the five runners to greet the judge. ALDEBARAN STEVIE is a winning chance at Melton on Tuesday night and GEE CEE CALDER makes an appearance at Cranbourne on Sunday.

Trial 8: - MAJESTIC MATADOR was able to take out the eighth trial on the program but only finished ninth at his first up performance several days later at Ballarat. PERFECT PEAK (Peak – Vari Perfect 2.3.6, $11,611) is a nicely bred juvenile for trainer Greg Leight and finished in second position ahead of HOWABOUTABACARDI (Bacardi Lindy – Speedy Jolter 2.6.5, $36,075) with MY LINDY ANGELS being the last one across the line. MY LINDY ANGELS will back up at Melton on Tuesday night.

Trial 9: - MADENA BAY makes a return to the race track at Cranbourne on Sunday and has been performing quite nicely at the trials. He was clearly the class runner of the trial but he was able to overcome the handicap of 40m to claim the prize. TELEPHONE TILLY finished in second position and is also racing at Cranbourne on Sunday. AMUNET hasn’t raced since April and was the last of the three runners to complete the course but resumes from a break at Melton on Tuesday night.

Trial 1: - THELONGROADNOWHERE showed a liking to the Mildura circuit with a win and a second on that track in June. He finished ninth at Hamilton at his latest race track appearance but would have gained some confidence with a trial victory over CAESARION, which has been promising his maiden success for some time with fourteen placed efforts to his credit. IM PRINCESS BELLA is a smart filly and recorded fast time at a Stawell victory on June 25. She finished a distant third on her way to competing at Bendigo tonight with the lightly raced SWEETSAZZYMYLAZZY being the last one to complete the course.

Trial 2: - JAZSPUR kept her momentum going after a victory at Stawell on July 29 with her trial success over SIR EROS, which started his career in style with a victory at Maryborough recently. BIGTEDY MCCABE (Bad Boy Truscott – Left One Eye Out 2.5.3, $38,494) is an unraced gelding out of a handy race mare in Left One Eye Out. He finished a distant third and TICKTOK was a tailed off last.

MARYBOROUGH 15/08/21

Trial 1: - HURRICANE HALL began quickly to lead, took a trail behind the trotter SUNDONS COURAGE and came to the outside at the 400m when he dashed home in sizzling final fractions to win impressively. It was a top performance but he takes on a very classy field at Kilmore tomorrow night. SUNDONS COURAGE continued his strong trial form and battled on well to finish in second position. He set up a very genuine tempo with the mile rate being 1.57.1. BLASTER RANGER settled last of the five runners, moved to the outside and tried to trail forward behind HURRICANE HALL but didn’t have the speed. He finished third with NEPHEW OF SONOKO trotting home strongly out wide late from four back on the markers to pick up fourth spot. VALENTINA BRAVE settled three back on the inside, couldn’t quite fill her position behind HURRICANE HALL mid-race and ended up being the last of the five to finish.

Trial 2: - CALVERT HOT SHOT settled three back on the inside, moved into the one out and one back trail with 600m remaining then commenced his winning move at the 300m mark. He hit the lead in the straight then repelled the challenge of FINAL BOW to get the prize. FINAL BOW was a good effort in second position. She settled four back on the markers, moved to the outside in the straight and ran home well late. She backed up with a seventh placed effort at Kilmore on Thursday night. HARPOCRATES was five back on the markers, moved up without cover at the 1100m and battled on well for third. He is returning from a spell at Horsham on Monday. HOWS THE SERENITY came out of the gate quickly to find the  lead and backed off the tempo mid-race. She was gunned down in the straight and finished fourth in front of LOVEN LAUGHTER, which pulled hard in behind the leader and failed to finish off at the end.

Trial 3: - MAJOR BANKS began nicely and was able to find the back of the leader. He came to the outside with 250m remaining and was able to get the better of the leader VALIANT CHARGER in the run to the post, seemingly with something left in the locker. VALIANT CHARGER set up a slow tempo in the lead and kicked back strongly in the straight when challenged. REAL DASH settled down in last position, came to the outside in the straight and made ground for a close third. KARALTA STARDUST was last of the four horses to cross the line after being three back on the markers throughout.

Trial 4: - SKYE CRUISER settled three back on the markers, moved into the one out and one back trail at the 600m mark and came out three horses wide on the home turn. He finished off best to win comfortably. He has been unplaced in two starts to date but he indicated that he can show improvement this campaign with a nice victory. JILLIBY DINGO finished in second position after setting up a slow speed and MAJESTIC REACTOR was doing his best work at the end via the sprint lane from behind the leader. PERFECT STATEMENT settled down last of the four runners, moved into the death at the 800m mark and couldn’t continue the run, finishing last of the four.

Trial 5: - PETREOS settled four back on the markers, gained a run through the middle in the home straight and accelerated nicely to get the prize. LUCY SAWYER was three back on the markers before moving up without cover at the 500m mark. She battled on well for a close second. AN FELLA MOR began quickly to find the lead and set up a moderate tempo. He hung out badly in the back straight on the final occasion and ended up out three horses wide but regained his composure and was battling it out at the finish. INFERRNO trailed the leader and obtained an inside run to find the front at the 500m. He couldn’t sustain the effort and ended up being in fourth position with CUTTY SARK being the last one home after galloping away, chasing the pack then peaking late.

Trial 6: - WHOS COUNTN settled three back on the markers, moved up without cover at the 500m and was able to score nicely. EVERYSECONDCOUNTS trailed the leader and tried hard to finish in second position. She is racing at Melton on Tuesday night, where she appears to be one of the winning chances. TURTLE settled four back on the inside, gained a one out and one back trail at the 500m, came out three horses wide at the 150m and was able to grind away into third position. COUNTESS CHIRON broke at the start and dropped out to last on the first turn. She pulled hard in the run but was able to recover nicely and finished a creditable fourth. YANKEE TWISTER settled five back on the inside and beat home the early leader JORDANS MATE.

Trial 7: - SCAR settled three back on the markers, wanted to hang in and got inconvenienced at the 600m and lost approximately 20m. He moved away from the markers at the 600m to recover nicely and produced a good performance to chase down the early leader MAJESTIC EM (Majestic Son – Heart of Glass) before running away in the run to the finish. MAJESTIC EM led and got away in the back straight before being run down at the end. OUR WARRIOR trailed the leader and finished a distant third. MY VELVET (Skyvalley – Apollorita 2.0.7, $36,413) broke at the 1700m and was tailed off in the early stages so she lost all chance.

Trial 8: - LADY STRIDE began quickly to find the lead, ran along at an even tempo and scored comfortably. OUR ESCAPADE (Pet Rock – Just Irish Loch) settled three back on the inside, used the sprint lane and worked through nicely for second. Both LADY STRIDE and OUR ESCAPADE will be major chances at Horsham on Tuesday. EMER trailed the leader then moved to the outside at the 250m and tried hard in the straight. He finished third in front of SOUNDS LIKE FUN (Western Terror – Sounds Alive 1.54.6, $66,941), which was four back on the inside and raced greenly in the straight. SUBSCRIBE (Sportswriter – For Sevens Sake 2.0.2, $10,163) remained in last position throughout.

Trial 1: - JILLIBY JAY SEA (Somebeachsomewhere – Perfect Take) began quickly and pushed forward to find the lead with 1400m remaining. He set up a reasonable speed and went to the line with something to spare. JILLIBY FLASH (Four Starzzz Shark – Jilliby Jazzy) settled three back on the inside and moved into the death seat at the 300m. He worked up on the outside and went to the line in unison with JILLIBY JAY SEA, also going to the line without being fully extended. KEAYANG OMAR (Sir Lincoln (Lincoln Royal) – Dianne Valerie 2.5.4, $6,990) began quickly to lead, took a trail at the 1400m and used the sprint lane. He held his ground over the concluding stages. BETTERTHAN POPSY (Betterthancheddar – Steda Gem) settled four back on the markers, went deep into the sprint lane and wasn’t beaten by far, despite being last of the four runners.

Trial 2: - KEAYANG NINJA was without cover early, pushed to the lead and took a trail shortly afterwards. He moved away from the markers approaching the home turn and finished off best to get the prize. IMAMAORIJET was out one out and one back early then continued to push forward to find the lead at the 1600m. She ran a very good race and went down fighting. SUNNY PETITE was without cover before taking the lead, eased for a trail and was shuffled to three back on the markers mid-race. She lost ground before the home turn but she really picked up in the final 100m so she did show some ability. She makes her Australian debut at Horsham on Monday, where she is a strong chance. THE CLIPPER (Great Success – Virginian Connection 2.9.8, $4,770) trailed the leader early and ended up being four back on the markers. He finished fourth ahead of FESTIVE AZZ and MISS MAIA, which were second last and last respectively throughout the duration.

Trial 3: - KIMBLE was three back on the markers, moved into the death seat at the 600m and hit the front on the home turn.  He went on to score comfortably and will prove extremely hard to beat at Horsham on Monday. JILLIBY RHYTHM was four back on the markers and moved into the one out and one back trail approaching the home turn. She didn’t make her run until well into the straight, where she switched back to the inside and made ground late. MELANNA BEACH trailed the leader, got held up for a run at a vital stage and worked home well for third. The early leader EL BANCO yielded ground late and finished fourth.

SHEPPARTON 17/08/21

Trial 1: - GOLDEN SUNSET began fast and was able to find the front then backed off the tempo mid-race. She was clinging to the lead in the straight but broke stride with 75m remaining. She was first past the post but she was still galloping at the time. WATCH AND ACT took the trail behind GOLDEN SUNSET and used the sprint lane in the straight. He finished a narrow second with SENITAS STRENGTH being in third position after settling in fourth and moving to the outside at the quarter pole. DAZY SUNDAZE settled three back on the inside and was holding her ground late for fourth. PRETTYLILANGUS broke stride at the start, lost approximately 50m before tacking on at the 1100m. She did a very good job to finish in fifth position. ALDEBARAN PHOEBE was five back on the inside and beat home ALDEBARAN MY, which was pacing in the early stages and was tailed off throughout.

Trial 2: - ROLL THE ACES (Rock N Roll Heaven – Sweet Aces 1.58.9, $50,645) began very quickly to find the lead and backed off the tempo mid-race. He dashed away over the concluding stages to win easily and without having to be pushed out to the line. MACHS LAST (Mach Three – Samantha Chloe) settled four back on the inside, moved away from the inside in fifth position and worked home nicely for second, seemingly with plenty with in reserve. LILS NIGHTMARE was one out and one back early, restrained to last, gained a one out and one back trail at the 600m and finished in third position. LIKAVEEEIGHT was without cover early, restrained to be three back on the markers at the 1800m and finished fourth. THAT’S ART (Modern Art – That’s Reality) was five back on the markers, moved up without cover at the 600m and broke stride with 150m remaining. ALIZA HILL (Racing Hill – Abstract Lady 1.57.4, $27,170) was the last one to complete the course after taking the trail behind the leader shortly after the start.

BLACKBOOKER: - Roll The Aces

Trial 3: - ALABAMA ICE (Hurrikane Kingcole – Shebas Rocket 2.1.6, $5,626) trailed the leader and proved to be too strong in the run to the finish. CAPTAINS QUEEN was wide early, gained a one out and one back trail at the 1800m, restrained to be sixth on the markers, raced without cover at the 700m, dropped to be on the markers approaching the home turn and used the sprint lane. She produced a good effort to finish in second position. MAMMALS DESTINY was pulling extremely hard at the start and found the lead. He was the third horse to break stride when in a striking position with 100m remaining out of the first three trials on the card but he managed to hold down third position. TORMENTARE (Western Terror – Kensington Gardens 2.1.9, $7,965) settled four back on the inside and finished fourth ahead of ANTIHERO (Red Samurai – Golden Antigone), which was without cover early and angled onto the markers to be in third position mid-race. REPUTATIONAL failed to beat a runner to the line after dropping back to fifth on the markers in the early stages.

Mile Rate: - 2.2.3            Last Half: - 59.0               Margins: - 2m, 8m

Trial 4: - MAJOR ROLL dropped back to last early, moved up without cover from the mile marker, sprinted fast to find the lead at the 1500m and jogged home to win with ease. It was an impressive display but he has a large National Rating of 104. ALLSET was five back on the markers, moved into the one out and one back trail at the 500m and came out three horses wide on the home turn. He worked home nicely into second position. Both MAJOR ROLL and ALLSET are competing at Kilmore tomorrow night but are up against very strong opposition. JANJUC led out then took a trail and finished in third position with TUFFANUFF being fourth after ending up being three back on the markers when MAJOR ROLL made his mid-race move. BLAST AWAY was four back on the inside and was the first to make a move at the 500m mark but couldn’t sustain the run and was the last horse to finish.

Trial 5: - Several horses made mistakes in the early stages of this trial, which left ANGSKI and BERRIESANDCHERRIES (Crazed – Meredith Castle 2.0.8, $38,427) a long way ahead. ANGSKI continued to build on his lead and got away from BERRIESANDCHERRIES to win by a large margin. BERRIESANDCHERRIES finished second with the pacer MILLION DOLLAR ART making good ground on her over the final stages in third. MILLION DOLLAR ART settled down in fifth early and was a long way from the lead. TEDS SECRET (Crazed – Secret Message) was fourth early and remained in that position at the end. COMANDANTE was very slow to begin after galloping away but chased hard and made up many lengths before breaking stride again at the quarter pole. ABBIE (Majestic Son – Aldebaran Peggy) started off in third position and was trying to pursue the leading pair but broke stride with 800m remaining and lost all chance.

Trial 6: - NO MOTIVE began quickly and was able to roll to the top with 1800m remaining. He ran along at an even tempo and was able to score comfortably. TREACHEROUSTIMES finished in second position after being three back on the markers and making his move from the quarter pole. RAMBUNCTIOUS began with NO MOTIVE and was the first to the markers but elected to take a trail. He finished third and wasn’t fully extended to the line. MAC SHADOW (Shadow Play – Elle MacArty) broke stride 50m after the start and lost 30m in the early stages. He tacked on with 1300m remaining and beat home MELPARK BUTCH, which four was back on the markers throughout.

Trial 1: - MADENA BAY started from the handicap of 30m and was last of the three runners early. He came away from the inside at the 500m, dropped in behind the leader on the turn and extricated to the outside again in the straight. He was able to run home best and get the prize. It would have given him plenty of confidence for his effort at Cranbourne on Sunday. RUM AN ROYAL finished in second position after setting the speed and REINE DE LA LUNE (Louey Louey Louey – Diedres Mission $4,996) was last of all after trailing the leader but she was the only horse competing in the trial that hadn’t raced previously.

Trial 2: - JAGUAR JAY (Guaranteed – Black Cougar 1.56.9, $60,405) is listed to have won the trial but he finished in last position after trailing the leader and using the sprint lane. LOVE TO DEAL (American Ideal – Jazzee Valentine 1.59.5, $45,086) was able to fire to the front shortly after the start and dominated the trial, racing well clear at the end to win by fifteen metres. LADY GAR (American Ideal – Im Elsa 1.56.2, $112,754) settled four back on the markers, moved into a one out and one back trail with 300m remaining and came out three horses wide on the home turn. She finished third with DAISY STARZZZ (Four Starzzz Shark – In A Rose Tattoo 1.56.0, $43,278) being in fourth after leaving the markers from third at the quarter pole.

Trial 3: - I AM PEGASUS began brilliantly to lead and ran along at a genuine tempo. There was a big margin between first and last at the end of the trial so I AM PEGASUS did produce a tidy effort. MADENA SKY was three back on the inside, moved up without cover momentarily at the mile marker then angled across to trail the leader at the 1400m. She chased hard throughout and beat the remainder of the field by a large margin. RING MY BELLS trailed the leader early, ended up being three back on the markers and hung out under pressure with 500m remaining. He finished third with UNION FORCE being last of the four runners throughout.

Mile Rate: - 2.1.7            Last Half: - 59.8               Margins: - 10m, 70m

Trial 4: - BELMONT ROYALE settled three back on the markers, moved up without cover at the 700m mark and looked sharp at the finish. He was able to get up and win with the last 800m being a slick 56.8 seconds. ALAKAZAM finished in second spot after setting the speed. He finished off in a quick final half so he couldn’t have done much more than he did and he is a chance at Melton on Tuesday. SAMMYS OUR GIRL (Goodtime Sammy – The Summer Wind 2.2.8, $16,593) was backing up from her trial effort at Bacchus Marsh on Saturday and used the sprint lane after trailing the lead throughout. She wasn’t beaten by far and she was closing in at the finish. WAVE OF DEFIANCE settled four back on the inside and beat home HANGING FIRE (Alta Christiano – Spice On Ice), which was last throughout.

Mile Rate: - 2.4.6            Last Half: - 56.8               Margins: - 1.5m, 1m

Trial 5: - SUPREME DOMINATOR settled three back on the inside, used the sprint lane and cruised to the line to win effortlessly. He is right at his peak at the moment and should continue his good form at the races. THE WHOLE PACKAGE began quickly to find the lead and kicked on strongly at the end to finish second. He has drawn on the pole position at Melton on Tuesday so he not without a chance. MAJOR HALL was behind the leader for the majority of the trial before coming to the outside at the 300m mark. He finished third with HEZACROCWATCHER being fourth after leaving the markers and trying to make ground from last at the 600m. SMITHSTARS LEXUS was four back on the inside throughout and was the last one to reach the winning post.

He finished second with ROSIES PRIDE being third after leading out then taking cover. He finished at the tail of the field but will have obviously benefited from the experience.
