Emma Stewart's unraced filly Katie Lorraine has stormed into Harness Racing Victoria's form guru Craig Rail's file after impressing on debut at the Melton trials.
"Katie Lorraine is an unraced filly by Captaintreacherous out of the classy mare Cyclone Betty (1.59.3, $68,186). She led out then took cover at the 1700m and commenced her winning run from the 600m mark. She dashed home in a sizzling final quarter of 27.2 seconds and recorded an impressive victory," Rail said.

Trial 1: - SPIRIT OF ARION NZ was clearly the class runner of the trial and scored comfortably. He settled three back on the markers, made a move in the back straight, angled in behind the leader approaching the home turn then came to the outside again in the straight, racing away to win clearly and with something in hand. SEBASTIANS BOY settled down three back on the markers early but made a move and dashed around to find the top with 1500m remaining. The handy trotter kicked on bravely to finish in second position. OFF THE RADAR led out then took cover and finished third ahead of BENNIE AND THE JETS NZ, which ruined his chances by galloping away.

Trial 3: - THE WISE GUY is a nicely bred first starter for trainer Shane Sanderson, which was able to win his qualifying trial by a comfortable margin. He trailed the leader, came to the outside with 500m remaining and finished off too well. SKINNY HORACE settled three back on the markers, moved into the one out and one back trail with 500m remaining and tried hard for second. AUSSIE JAY MAC NZ galloped away and was always detached from the main division. He picked up some ground and was able to roll into a distant third.

Trial 1: - JAZSPUR settled four back on the inside and moved up without cover with 600m remaining. She sustained a strong run and was able to dash clear in the end to win impressively. SER PATRICK began quickly to find the lead and attempted to lead throughout. He was headed before the home turn but kicked on okay for second. LITTLE YANKEE was third past the post after trailing the leader throughout.

MISSMALACHITE began quickly to find the lead, ran along at a genuine tempo and was run down over the latter stages. She finished a distant third but the time was quick so her effort was sound and she is competing at Charlton this afternoon.

Trial 5: - BEACH HEAVEN began quickly to find the lead and set up a slow tempo. She dashed well clear over the concluding stages and won easily. She backed up at Ballarat on Thursday night but unfortunately broke stride and finished unplaced. MET WITH A SHRUG settled three back on the inside and worked into second. HARPERSEVEN is a juvenile trotter for trainer Mark Hayes. She is by young sire Helpisontheway USA out of the handy mare Aldebaran Turnpike (1.59.6) and did well considering she was taking on older horses. She trailed the leader throughout and battled on reasonably well over the latter stages.

Trial 1: - BUSLIN BRODY stepped away quickly to find the lead and enjoyed a nice run in the front running role. He was able to hold on and get the prize. LUVSKI settled three back on the inside, used the sprint lane and finished off fast to win by a narrow margin. He is backing up at Shepparton on Tuesday night. THAT’S DUDLEY trailed the leader and moved to the outside on the home turn. He held his ground over the final stages and finished in third position. WISH UPONA DREAM commenced from the handicap of 20m and was last early. She moved up without cover at the 1300m mark and battled on reasonably well over the latter stages.

ROCKEN began quickly to race without cover, pushed forward to find the lead at the 1700m and was headed approaching the home turn. TOP THRILL came from five back on the markers to work into fourth spot.

SALSKI was last of the three across the line after trailing the leader throughout.

He finished third and WILD BULL NZ was last of the four runners for the duration.

FIGHTER COMMAND was three back on the markers, moved through to trail the leader at the 700m when CAPTAIN BELLASARIO broke gear and finished in third. He paced roughly approaching the home turn, lost valuable ground then rallied in the straight and was hitting the line nicely.

Trial 3: - VINEY began quickly and raced without cover early before pushing forward to find the lead at the 1700m. I AM THE STORM began quickly to find the lead, took cover and just failed to run down his stable mate in the run to the finish. SEATHESTARS came from last of the four runners to run into a distant third.

Trial 5: - ZORBA DAN won the trial for the juvenile pacers after leading throughout. He is by Tintin In America out of Promise Me Robin, the dam of Tin Tin Jo (1.51.5, $178,387) and he appears to have a promising future. SOHO TUXEDO finished in second after trailing the leader throughout. SOHO WASHINGTON settled last of the three runners, came to the outside at the 400m and was seemingly going to finish in second but broke stride in the home straight.

Trial 6: - TUIVASA continued his good trial form with a victory over his stable mates LUV THE NITELIFE and DESCANSO. He settled three back on the inside, moved into the death seat at the mile marker and zipped to the lead shortly afterwards. LUV THE NITELIFE trailed the leader early, ended up being three back on the markers at the 1500m and made a move from the 600m mark. She finished off swiftly in fast final sectionals and was beaten by a narrow margin. DESCANSO finished a large distance away in third position after settling last of the five runners but there was a lot to like about how he was able to get to the line.

Trial 9: - SOHO PARK AVENUE is a beautifully bred colt being by Bettors Delight out of Pixel Perfect, the dam of seven winners including the outstanding pacer and now sire Soho Tribeca (1.53.8, $1,103,854) and Carlas Pixel (1.49.5, $480,128). He trailed the leader, came to the outside with 400m remaining and was able to get home best. SOHO MAJESTIC followed behind his stable mate throughout and went to the line with something in reserve, picking up second position. MISTER AMERICANO was last of the three runners to cross the line after setting the speed.

Trial 10: - DRAW A DREAM is a classy mare that has won eight of her twelve starts. She hasn’t raced since being unplaced in a heat of the Victoria Oaks but she appeared to be very sharp in her trial victory. She led out then took cover at the 1700m and sprinted quickly from the home turn. FOX DAN finished in second after working to the lead shortly after the start. WOTDIDUSAAAY finished third after being last of the three runners for the majority of the trip.

Trial 1: - ONLY ONCE BITTEN NZ recorded handy time in her victory over POWERSOFPERSUASION. She was stood down to trial after her latest tenth at Mildura but based on the slick time that she recorded, she might be back to her best form. POWERSOFPERSUASION continued his good form and was beaten by a narrow margin in second position. NOBLE TRICK has also been racing very well and was the third horse across the line. He is backing up at Swan Hill on Sunday night.

Trial 4: - QUARTZITE was stood down to trial at his latest performance and was able to re-qualify with a victory in reasonable time over THE ONLY DECISION NZ, which hasn’t raced since being unplaced in the Tatlow Stakes in August. MAGIC MATTY is a speedy type that has had a prosperous campaign and finished in third position ahead of DEEWHY. DEEWHY is backing up at Swan Hill on Sunday night.
