SHEPPARTON 25/03/21

Trial 1: - WAYONBYE raced without cover in the early stages and pushed forward to pressure the leader. He eventually found the front at the 1300m mark, kept the speed on throughout and held on to score. ITS BEAUJOLAIS showed brilliant gate speed to lead early, copped some pressure in the back straight on the first occasion and eventually took cover. She came to the outside on the home turn and made a determined effort in the straight but went down narrowly. It was a good workout for her comeback performance at Kilmore on Thursday. MAJOR DELICO settled down in last position and was the widest runner turning for home. He finished off boldly out wide to pick up third position and he was never pushed at any stage. LOUISIANA JO was fourth on the markers and moved away from the inside at the 700m (1-2). She was out four horses wide from the 300m mark and was finding the line well despite being outgunned by MAJOR DELICO over the concluding stages. STARSBYTHEBEACH settled three back on the markers and looked to be jogging approaching the home turn but failed to extend late. BIG JACK HAMMER was the sixth horse following the markers for the majority of the event and was able to beat home CROOKWELL JAKE, which was five back on the markers before gaining a one out and one back trail and coming out three horses wide on the home turn. ROCKIN IN MEMPHIS was the last horse to cross the line but had no luck at all. He was second last early and chased hard to find the one out and one back trail, only to be left stranded without cover when WAYONBYE moved to the front.

Mile Rate: - 1.57.9          Final Half: - 57.6              Margins: - Neck, 10m

Trial 2: - THEYALLENDINY stepped away nicely from the standing start to find the lead. He was having a good look around in the early stages but travelled kindly for the majority of the trip and was able to win comfortably. He has won several trials leading up to his first up run at Warragul on Sunday where he has drawn favourably. DASH OF FLAIR finished in second position after trailing the leader and moving to the outside on the home turn. Both the winner and the second placed runner went to the line with plenty in reserve. The juvenile trotter MILLEE (Rock N Roll Heaven – Jovial Jurno Lombo 1.57.6, $24,898) was able to keep trotting throughout but was slow away and was gradually losing ground throughout the trial. She beat home WALKABOUT TAM (Sebastian K – Pacobamba 2.5.4, $13,740), which began okay before galloping 100m after the start. ASK NO QUESTIONS (Skyvalley – Don’t Question This) settled three back on the markers but had an issue with a bandage, which unravelled mid-race and was forced to ease out of the trial.

Mile Rate: - 2.5.7            Final Half: - 61.0              Margins: - 6m, Dist

Trial 3: - INDEPENDENT BELLE (Sportswriter – Bella’s Delight 1.54.3, $442,523) is a beautifully bred filly being out of the former top mare Bella’s Delight. She trailed the leader, used the sprint lane and drove through to get the prize. HARTNETT (Pet Rock – Illawong Fantasia 1.55.5, $57,862) settled three back on the markers and ran home strongly through the middle late to snare second. PIPPI was one out and one back for the majority of the trial but was held up for a run at a vital stage and found the line well late for third. ROCKIN BETTOR finished fourth after racing without cover throughout and looking to be under pressure for the entire journey. OUR CHRISTIANO attempted to lead throughout and finished fifth in front of ROLL WITH RON (Roll With Joe – Clevedon Betty 1.57.2, $22,470), which was out of position at the start, missed away by ten metres and was last for most of the trip. SHARKTON (Heston Blue Chip – Shark Interest) settled five back on the inside and broke stride momentarily with 1200m remaining. He settled quickly, angled out three horses wide at the 300m and stormed to the front on the home turn. He appeared to be the winner in the straight but broke stride with 100m remaining and lost his chance.

Mile Rate: - 2.3.2            Final Half: - 61.1              Margins: - 5m, 2m

Trial 4: - DESSIE GEE trailed the leader YELLOW STONE for the first lap but was left in front when YELLOW STONE broke a hopple and had to be retired. He was only narrowly in front for the majority of the home straight but he fought on determinedly to get the prize. WESTERN BILL settled six back on the markers and moved up without cover at the bell. He battled on strongly in the straight to be beaten by a narrow margin. He backed up at Geelong on Wednesday night and produced a big performance to win impressively against a strong field. ITS EBONYNIVORY was seventh on the markers and moved into the one out and one back trail at the bell. She came out three horses wide approaching the home turn and loomed up to win but couldn’t get past the leading duo. JANG PEL settled three back on the markers then was behind the leader for the last lap and finished a distant fourth. MISS ARTEMIS was four back on the markers for the last lap and finished ahead of OUR REACTOR (3 back markers from the 1200m) and CHANGEOVER GIRL was last of the main group throughout.

Mile Rate: - 2.4.2            Final Half: - 58.4              Margins: - 1m, Head

Trial 5: - MILLION DOLLAR ART trailed the leader throughout and used the sprint lane to win comfortably. DALLAS CHARLIE is now with trainer Colin Godden and showed good gate speed to lead. He set up a moderate tempo and was run down late but he wasn’t fully extended going to the finish. He returned from a break at Maryborough on Monday. NEVS DREAM (Sportswriter – Watch The Dream 1.56.6, $31,847) settled five back on the markers, waited for the sprint lane and dashed home late for an eye-catching third. CHASING HEADLINES (Sportswriter – Botswana 2.0.7, $32,685) was four back on the markers before moving into the one out and one back trail at the 500m mark. He came out three horses wide approaching the home turn and tried hard for fourth. NO NEIGH PHILTRA (Sportswriter – Chloes Daughter) settled last on the markers before moving away from the inside to follow behind CHASING HEADLINES (1-2). She finished ahead of EYEKNOWTHEFACE (Lincoln Royal – Token Queen), which was three back on the markers throughout and MINNIE DIVA (Great Success – Sailors Sweetheart 2.2.0, $12,030) was the last one to greet the judge after galloping momentarily at the start and racing without cover for the entire journey.

Mile Rate: - 2.4.7            Final Half: - 59.7              Margins: - 5m, 2m

Trial 6: - LITTLE TEDEY began quickly and pushed forward to find the lead 100m after the start. He wanted to lose concentration in the leading role but he switched on when challenged from the 600m and went on to win the trial. That was a handy trial performance leading into his effort at Kilmore on Thursday night. LOCKSLEY LOVER was four back on the markers early and ended up being five back on the inside after he galloped momentarily at the 1800m mark. He moved into the one out and one back trail approaching the home turn then made a move in the straight to pick up second position. MALHANA MUSCLES (Down Under Muscles – Hanabration 2.6.9, $6,119) was the first horse to find the markers and took cover behind LITTLE TEDEY shortly afterwards. He moved to the outside with 600m remaining and tried hard in the straight. TWIXTEN settled four back on the inside and used the sprint lane to finish fourth. The juvenile trotter HEY KARLA (Majestic Son – Good Thanks 2.3.2, $67,188) was three back on the markers then moved through to trail the leader at the 600m mark. She never peeled to the outside at any stage and went to the line hard held thus putting in another eye-catching trial performance. FUGLE (Majestic Son – A Bit Amiss) was six back on the markers throughout and beat home YANKEE LOVER, which had to take evasive action at the start to avoid the gallopers and settled last of the bunch. IM BOBBY (Majestic Son – Aldebaran Peggy) broke stride in the score up and finished ahead of BERRIESANDCHERRIES (Crazed – Meredith Castle 2.0.8, $38,427), which galloped and lost her chance at the start.

Mile Rate: - 2.8.5            Final Half: - 63.2              Margins: - 4m, 1m

Trial 7: - GOODMORNING CHERYL began quickly to lead, took a trail behind CRESCO GERONIMO then moved around to find the front from the mile marker. She was able to cling on and win from CRESCO GERONIMO, which moved away from the inside on the home turn to chase and just failed to peg back the margin. ALITTLEBITOFFTAP settled three back on the inside and used the sprint lane to finish in third position with TERROR OF LOCKSLEY being an unlucky fourth. He settled five back on the inside, moved into the one out and one back trail at the bell and never peeled to the outside at any stage, going to the line jogging with no clear run. CRYSTAL FLAME (Courage Uner Fire – Crystal Reign 2.3.3, $33,714) was sixth early but was caught without cover and pressed forward. She was without cover for the duration and beat home FLAMIN STEEL (4 back markers, 1-2 at 800m) and HAVELOCK (Major In Art – Blissfull Mood 1.59.2, $37,991) (6 back markers, off fence turn) was the last horse to finish.

BLACKBOOKER: - Terror of Locksley

TERANG 27/03/21

Trial 1: - ALLWATFUNJINGLES was able to push forward and find the lead from the standing start then was allowed to roll along at his own leisure. He was able to hold off the challenge of his only other rival MANGANA JOE (Majestic Son – Garston Girl 1.57.3, $65,570) in the run to the finish. MANGANA JOE produced a very good performance for a juvenile trotter. Admittedly he trailed the leader in a field of two but he raised an effort late and the mile rate from the standing start was a very respectable 2.5.8. He made his debut against a strong field of young trotters at Maryborough on Thursday, made a mistake and ran a creditable fourth.

Mile Rate: - 2.5.8            Final Half: - 61.1              Margin: - 2m

Trial 2: - CRIME WRITER settled three back on the markers and moved into the one out and one back trail with 500m remaining. He came to the outside on the home turn and cruised to victory. He is a National Ratings 78 assessed pacer so he did have the class edge. BETTOR ISOLATE (Bettors Delight – Ashlees Babe 1.57.3, $334,117) produced another very good trial effort in second position. He dropped back to last, moved up without cover at the 700m and hit the lead at the quarter pole before being run down late. Considering he is yet to make his debut and he was taking on the winners of multiple races, he did well to fill second position. He is having his first start at Hamilton on Monday and he is drawn on the pole position so he should run a big race. MAKE HASTE trailed the leader THE JET PLAYER and was held up for a run at a vital stage before coming to the outside in the straight and running home well over the concluding stages. He returned to Victoria after a stint in New South Wales and is now with trainer Gary Barton. THE JET PLAYER raced fiercely in the leading role and was overtaken from the quarter pole.

Trial 3: - KEAYANG DOMINO (Betting Line – Major Joy 1.56.1, $92,267) settled four back on the markers and ended up being in last position from the half mile marker. BOTANIST settled down last of the five runners, moved up without cover with 800m remaining and produced a good effort to finish second. CATCH THE SHARK (Four Starzzz Shark – J K Luckbealady USA $13,213) progressed forward to find the lead from the 1300m mark, set up a fair tempo and was gunned down late. JILLIBYJACKSPARROW (Captaintreacherous – Aqui A Mi Lado) trailed the leader and used the sprint lane to finish fourth ahead of RIGHTYO (Well Said – Christian Miracle 1.55.2, $47,538), which was three back on the markers throughout.

Trial 4: - KEAYANG MARVEN (Roll With Joe – Keayang Megan) settled down last of the five runners before moving into the death seat at the 600m mark. He sprinted quickly to get to the front on the home turn and sustained the run to win nicely. KEAYANG ALEX trailed the leader DEMONSTRATOR and was held up for a run before swinging to the outside in the straight. He held his ground over the concluding stages and finished in second position. He backed up to win at Geelong on Wednesday night, which is a strong form pointer for KEAYANG MARVEN when he steps out onto the track. DEMONSTRATOR was stood down to trial after choking down and coming to grief a week earlier. He was able to fill third position after setting the tempo. He is backing up at Hamilton on Monday where he is drawn to obtain a prominent position in the early stages. SMILE WITH A GRIN was three back on the markers and beat home LEICA BANDIT (Alta Christiano – Smirking Star), which followed him throughout.

Mile Rate: - 2.3.0            Final Half: - 59.2              Margins: - 4m, 5m

Trial 5: - PLYMOUTH CHUBB won impressively at his Melton victory and continued the trend with a big win over the older horses. TOUCHANDGO broke stride momentarily at the start but was able to land the position three back on the markers. He obtained an inside run with 300m remaining and picked up second ahead of VELVETNLACE, which settled four back on the inside. They finished sixth and fifth respectively at Geelong on Wednesday night. GRAND ENTRY broke stride momentarily at the start, trailed the leader and moved away from the inside with 300m remaining but battled into fourth. KENTUCKY JIM (Great Success – Lucky Kentucky) was five back on the markers, tried to take advantage of the first four horses moving away from the markers turning into the front straight looming up to the bell lap and used an inside run but started to yield ground from the 900m. He beat home his stable mate FIRE ALERT (Great Success – Fire Chase 2.7.5, $12,025), which was last of the six runners throughout.

Mile Rate: - 2.7.9            Final Half: - 59.2              Margins: - 25m, 1m

Trial 6: - PRIDDY SPUNGEE settled three back on the markers and came out three horses wide at the quarter pole. He worked home too well to get the prize. He wasn’t overly impressive leading up to his effort in the Warragul Cup on Sunday but he got the job done and he has been performing nicely at Group 1 level recently. ABITOFADREAMER led out then took a trail in the back straight on the final occasion before coming to the outside in the straight. He made a determined bid for victory in the straight but only failed by a head margin at the end. MIELICKI settled three back on the markers, trotted very roughly in the back straight and broke stride in the final 80m. He would have been last of the four runners to cross the line but he gained ground whilst galloping and nosed out AMUNET, which trailed the leader for the majority of the trip. MIEKLICKI has some ability but will have to improve on his manners leading up to his first up run at Hamilton on Monday.

ILLAWONG BENITA (Muscle Mass – Illawong Blush) pushed forward to find the lead, took cover behind ALDEBARAN HUEY and came to the outside in the straight. She picked up ground in the straight, was striding out nicely and was not extended at any stage so it was a handy performance. MAJUCKTE (Majestic Son – Veruckte Phoenix 1.59.1, $35,908) began well, took a trail and ended up being three back on the markers. He is meeting a handy field at Hamilton on Monday but he is an improving type. FLETCHAS ROY settled three back on the markers, pulled hard and was slightly inconvenienced by the galloping JAK MAGIC in the back straight. He worked home quite well for second with JOBELLS IMAGE being an eye-catching third. She settled fourth on the inside, was checked and galloped with 500m remaining and lost approximately 25m before flying along the sprint lane over the concluding stages. JAK MAGIC was enjoying the perfect run behind the leader before he galloped in the back straight and ended up finishing in fourth. The early leader CALEDONIAN TERRA was last after setting the speed.

BENDIGO 29/03/21

Trial 1: - There were a lot of horses that made errors in the standing start trial for the 2yo/3yo trotters and there was a big margin between first and last. ASTRO was second on the markers shortly after the start and was giving the leader KYVALLEY HEAVEN (Muscle Hill – Aldebaran Revenue) approximately 20m start. He was able to catch up mid-race then came to the outside with 150m remaining. He did the better late and scored by a metre on the line. KYVALLEY HEAVEN went to the line under a strong hold and with his ears pricked so he still had plenty left to give. MURTAGH KAI (Down Under Muscle – Subitize 2.9.7, $6,106) broke at the start and settled a distant fourth. He made up a lot of ground and finished in third position. BROTHER JOSEPH (Father Patrick – Wicked Schemes 2.2.8, $8,675) settled in third spot an was approximately 50m from the leading pair early. BUZZ LIKA BEE was without cover early before pushing to the lead at the 1600m. He was overtaken by PRAY TELL on the turn but he wasn’t asked for the supreme effort and was given his cue approximately 30m from the line, where he was more than matching the winner at the end.
