TrotsLife: John Nissen loving it as Locksley is flying high

John Nissen’s emerging star Locksley Lover steps out for the first time as an open age trotter at Tabcorp Park Melton on Saturday night.

The lightly raced four-year-old by Love You out of Redwood winning mare Elusive Charm has returned this season with three impressive wins in a row.

“I don’t think I have ever worked him a half quicker than about 61 seconds at home, yet he is going out trotting last halves in 56 and a bit,” Nissen told TrotsLife’s Jason Bonnington and Toby McKinnon.

Over a long career Nissen’s 67 wins have come at a very respectable 12 per cent, but never has his small team been going as good as they are today.

“The whole stable are last start winners, Terror Of Locksley has won two out of four, (Locksley) Lover has won three and the other big fella (Always Locksley) had his first win the other night.”
