TrotsLife: “Mind-blowing” effort lands a start in Metrospective’s Blackbook

Monday’s Metrospective on SEN Track’s TrotsLife has added five horses to the blackbook following Saturday night’s meeting at Tabcorp Park Melton.

Each Monday between 11am-1pm, Jason Bonnington and Nikkita Ross review Saturday night’s metropolitan program and identify horses who may not have taken home first prize but they feel put in a performance of note and are trending in the direction of a win.

This week both found Pray Tell and Eva Mateo out of the Nutrien Pace for the Mares, while a further three horses made their way on to the list.

HERE ARE THIS WEEK’S BLACKBOOKERS:

N10: CAPTAIN CONFETTI

JB: “This bloke galloped half-way up the lane but collected himself to hit the line with genuine intent. Excellent effort.”

N3: WHERES SEGGY

JB: “The Love Bug (James Herbertson) drove him like a good horse, and he raced like a good horse. There’s a decent argument to be made that he wins without the leader rolling out on him in lane.”

N11: BULLETPROOF BOY

NR: “He was a long way off the leader at the 800m and in a staggering mile rate of 1:51.5 closed that gap to be beaten five metres. A massive effort to make up so much ground. Racing as well as ever.”

N2: PRAY TELL

JB: “Mind-blowing effort to figure in finish after breezing in Vic Cup times early on. No guarantee she wins her next start, but this was career best from her by a space.”

NR: “Still a work in progress but to be up there with the early speed, over race and be beaten under two metres was a mighty effort and there was a lot to like about the fight she showed on Saturday night.”

R7: EVA MATEO

JB: “Arguably the fastest beginner in Victoria and surely would have brained these if not for being dragged 20 metres off the front by a tiring leader. She definitely has something about her.”

NR: “That gate speed is such a weapon. Desperately unlucky after being carted right back and then held up, she still hit the line really strongly. It wasn’t a once off, she has been racing in great form and another win could be close.”
