A big team of Victorians will fly the flag across next week’s iconic New Zealand Cup Carnival, which will be streamed live and free on TrotsVision.com.au thanks to a partnership between NZ Trackside, Sky Racing and Harness Racing Victoria.
Next Tuesday’s action at Addington Raceway kicks off with race one at 10am AEDT, before building to the Group 1 Dominion Trot at 2.37pm AEDT and the showpiece of the week, the $1million NZ Trotting Cup, at 3.53pm AEDT.
Victoria dominated last year’s Group 1 trotting features through Just Believe and Keayang Zahara, and the raiders are back in force. This year, Jilliby Ballerini, Arcee Phoenix and Parisian Artiste will contest the Dominion Trot, where they will be joined by Queensland’s Gus. It serves as an ideal entrée to the headline NZ Trotting Cup, which will feature Victoria Cup hero Kingman and superstar Leap To Fame.
The Victorian assault continues into Friday’s Group 1 NZ Trotters Free For All, with several runners expected to back up from Tuesday. In addition, star juveniles Gatseys Gem and Tracy The Jet will attempt to emulate Keayang Zahara’s 2024 heroics in the $500,000 The Ascent slot race for three-year-old trotters.
Meanwhile, Brent Lilley’s emerging talent Kyvalley Ray will take on the Group 1 NZ Sires Stakes for two-year-old trotters, rounding out a powerful Victorian presence across the Tasman.
