The barrier draws have been completed live on TrotsVision for the four Group 1 races at Bendigo on Saturday night and the stage is set for the one of the most epic nights of harness racing this year.
In the $300,000 Group 1 Pryde’s EasiFeed Victoria Cup the pre-post favourite, superstar pacer King Of Swing, drew unlucky-for-some barrier 13 – widest on the second line.
It opens things up significantly with mighty mare Amazing Dream snaring barrier five and the very much in-form Torrid Saint the pole in gate one.
New South Wales star King Of Swing was still a $2.4 favourite shortly after the draw, with Amazing Dream $3.4, Triple Eight $7.5 from inside the back row and Mach Dan $10 and a genuine smoky in the eyes of many from barrier 10.
Andy Gath’s star trotter Majestuoso has been heavily backed off the back of drawing barrier three in the Aldebaran Park Bill Collins Trotters Sprint, into long odds-on at $1.4 despite Matt Craven’s star mare Pink Galahs pulling marble No.1.
That pair is split by Im Ready Jet at $13 in gate two, while Sleepee is $11 from inside the back row.
The Pryde’s EasiFeed Victoria Oaks looks a two-horse race according to the TAB odds with Ladies In Red $1.8 out of gate 10 and stablemate Beach Music $2.4 from barrier three.
The Emma Stewart-trained pair dominate the market, with stablemate Joanna the only other filly in single figures at $6 from gate 6.
Stewart also has a stranglehold on the Lather Up Victoria Derby thanks to Act Now drawing well in barrier three, TAB reacting by moving him into $2.1.
Drawn to his inside, however, is American Dealer at $3 from the Nathan Purdon camp, with Major Moth out to $5 after pulling gate seven – outside the front row.
Bondi Lockdown had no luck in his heat and again missed the luck at tonight’s barrier draw, snaring gate 12 for Aaron Dunn.
Who knows, perhaps Bondi Luck is saving all his luck for Saturday grand final night?
