WATCH: Anton Hopeful exciting trotter can keep stepping up

The trotting mares ranks are bursting with talent here in Victoria at the minute, with last weekend’s IRT Australia Matriarch Trot evidence of that.

Anton Golino and his co-trainer Jack MacKinnon had Imsettogo in that race – she finished sixth beaten just 3.8m – and have another exciting prospect working her way through the grades.

Her name is Hopeful Beauty and she shoots for three-straight wins this evening at Tabcorp Park Melton. She will line-up in the APG and APTS Offers $2.2m In Prizemoney Trot, and is likely to start a well-supported favourite.

Golino allowed thetrots.com.au cameras inside his Cardigan property this week and spoke about his emerging mare.

“She’s nowhere near as brilliant as say a Dance Craze as far as just sheer speed and excitement, but she is genuinely a top-line filly I think,” he said.

“And her breed would suggest that she should get better with age, being by a French horse. As we’ve seen even here in the last couple of years, these French stallions, they just get better as they get older.

“I think she’ll hopefully develop to be an open class horse.”

The Golino and MacKinnon team also has Webster Hall in this evening’s TAB Long May We Play 3YO Trot, with that horse looking to make it two victories in succession after a maiden triumph at Bendigo last time out.

Join caller Dan Mielicki and Trots Vision host Rob Auber for a big night of racing from Melton, with the first event to go at 5.30pm.
