A modest Tasmanian form line that looks like an over-enthusiastic emergency call for help - 0000 - isn't always the most encouraging form lead-in but that hasn't disuaded the Trial File.
Marianna Bromac comes to Victoria after failing to fire in her last four starts, a record that "belies her ability" if her Bendigo trial is any indication.
She showed very good gate speed and won comfortably at Bendigo, making her one to watch when she steps out at Albury on Tuesday night.
Marianna Bromac was one of three to go into the Blackbook this week along with unraced pair Derek The Jet and Loan Sailor.
Their replays are among the highlights from the Victorian trials circuit this week, with the updated Blackbook at the bottom of the page.
SHEPPARTON 02/11/23
Trial 1: - FRANCO NOVELIST NZ performed below expectations when he was resuming but his trial form prior and now after that performance has been extremely good. He led throughout and completely dominated his rivals to win the opening trial in fast time. He backed up at Yarra Valley on Thursday and scored in fast time. DALVEY ROBYN NZ settled down last of the six runners, moved into the running lane (1-2) and came to the outside on the home turn. He finished quickly for a game second with LITTLE MISS LILY being in third after trailing the leader throughout. The unraced maiden FOLLOWTHEACE was taking on very strong opposition and finished off well from five back on the markers to be in fifth position. He makes his debut at Shepparton on Sunday and should prove very hard to beat.
Mile Rate: - 1.58.1 Last Half: - 56.0 Margins: - 12m, neck
Trial 4: - LIZZIES SON has been lightly raced throughout the season but he is a handy trotter when at his peak form. He trailed the leader STRAIGHT TO THE TOP before finishing off too well in the straight. DEREK THE JET is an unraced colt for trainer Nathan Jack that has ability. He settled down five back on the markers, moved to the outside at the 400m and finished off fast, seemingly with something in reserve. The early leader STRAIGHT TO THE TOP finished third with WAIKARE COLLEEN (4 back markers) being fourth across the line.

XEBEC hasn’t raced since January 2022 and is now with trainer Kelly Stuart-Mitchell. He settled down last of the five runners and finished off well for pick up second. CORK was four back on the markers and finished third ahead of the juvenile trotter NOT TELLING HEATHER (trailed leader).

STEEL THE MOMENT was five back on the markers early before moving into the one out and one back trail at the 600m. He picked up some ground late to finish in second with ROCKNROLL STARDOM being in third after making a move from four back on the markers at the 600m mark. Mile Rate: - 2.1.3 Last Half: - 58.2 Margins: - Nose, 11m
Trial 6: - PRIVATE EYE is a smart horse and is making his comeback at Melton tomorrow night. He was last to begin before moving up without cover with 800m remaining. He went quickly down the back straight and sustained a long run to claim the prize. He will be meeting a lot stronger opposition tomorrow night but his trial form is sound. BENDIGO 06/11/23
Trial 3: - MARIANNA BROMAC NZ comes to Victoria after racing in Tasmania. Her form line is Tasmania reads 0000 at her past four attempts but that reference belies her ability. She showed very good gate speed to be a clear leader early and recorded reasonable time in winning the trial comfortably. She has a very low National Rating of 44 so she is worth following and she has drawn favourably at Albury on Tuesday night. RHAPSODY STRIDE settled three back on the markers and finished off well via the sprint lane to run third. SWEET FACE was third across the line after trailing the leader throughout. SPIRITED STRIDE was five back on the markers before being held up for a run at a vital stage and finished strongly for fourth. She went to the line with plenty in reserve so she showed some ability.

SEA HILL wanted to keep the lead and TACTICS ARE ROLLIN applied unrelenting pressure before pushing ahead and finding the top at the 1200m. Both horses battled on well in the run to the finish.
