More than 250 entrants take on ID19 in TrotStars

More than 250 entrants are ready to tackle the Inter Dominion through ID19 TrotStars, thetrots.com.au’s fantasy game that kicks off with tonight’s first heats of the pinnacle series in Australasian trots.

As evident in the huge response to TrotStars, expectations are high for ID19, which looms as one of the most open editions in a number of years.

Australia has sent what would be considered a larger than expected contingent to New Zealand’s North Island.

Tough Monarch heads the trotters division while McLovin lies in wait, the under-the-weather Andy Gath-trained trotter scratched from heat one but approved to take the irregular route of qualification through heats two and three.

From a pacing perspective Bling It On has garnered most interest along with perennial headline horse San Carlo.

All are prominent choices for those who have selected teams in ID19 TrotStars, which enables punters and participants to choose a stable of five horses to represent them through the series.

The most popular selection, by far, has been New South Wales pacer Our Uncle Sam who has so far landed in 42.7% of stables from those that have entered.

The next most selected horse is New Zealand trotter Habibti Inta (30.7%), whose popularity has in part grown due to McLovin’s scratching. The latter has plummeted from being in 17 per cent of teams to 10 per cent.

Bling It On has grown more and more popular as the entries file in and looks likely to be in almost 30% of teams when nominations close at 5pm (ADST) Friday.

Of the cheaper purchases, Kennys Dream (28.7%) has seen a wave of support as the fourth most popular horse in the entire series.

Incredibly, every single horse in the series has been chosen by multiples entrants.

That said, On The Cards, Bonnie Highlander, Massive Metro, Pres The Belle, Check In and Star Galleria are the least selected competitors, all appearing in less than 3% of teams.
