Ryan Phelan has your tips, strategy and Quaddie for Sunday afternoon harness action from Charlton.

Race 1:
OVERVIEW: MISSMALACHITE (4) is a fast beginner and will find this opposition much more to her liking than what she’s faced her past couple. Prior to that she was going well with a string of placings, the most recent sitting parked. She is a 40-start maiden, but this is her best chance to get that victory.
VERY TEMPTING (3) finds his most suitable race to bounce back into the winner’s list. With the lack of speed drawn to his inside he gets the chance to race in a handy position; it’s been a while between drinks, however. JOEYS HANGOVER (1) is often disadvantaged by his lack of gate speed, but if he can hold up to be at worst leader’s back, he comes into calculations strongly. BLUE OCEAN (2) is another who struggles to win, but he’s sure to map well from the draw which is a major factor in a race with little depth.
SELECTIONS: MISSMALACHITE (4), VERY TEMPTING (3), JOEYS HANGOVER (1), BLUE OCEAN (2)
Race 2:
OVERVIEW: METRO MEMORY (7) isn’t afforded any favours with the draw; however his recent form has been very good, and he looks well placed on the ratings scale. He came from well back last time at Kilmore when missing narrowly and has a good record at this track. If there’s enough speed early, he can overpower them late.
ARE WEASLEY (4) is a tough, consistent type who often finds himself racing the hard way. If he happens to find his way to the top his chances improve dramatically, however expect ENABLE ME (2) to try and make the most of this draw and race in a forward position. He burned out last time and hung in there and was a winner five back when able to race handy. SOAR (1) isn’t a brilliant beginner but can hold up well enough to not map far off them and take his chance on the sprint lane.

BACK: METRO MEMORY (7) – 3 units (win)
SELECTIONS: METRO MEMORY (7), ARE WEASLEY (4), ENABLE ME (2), SOAR (1)
Race 3:
OVERVIEW: SHARP INTEREST (2) has shown ability in her career, and has proven her versatility, showing speed to find the top or coming off the speed. She’s first up here and her two trials into this were very good, suggesting she’s ready for a forward showing. Her best form has many of these covered.
BRAVE ART (3) must stay under notice, as she’s had no luck with barrier draws or set-ups her past few. Her form prior was quite good, so she warrants respect. LORIMERMAJOR (8) strung together some very good form late last season, and has numerically not been as effective, with excuses. This presents as a better option than what he’s faced. ZOOM ZOOM BOOM (1) has its first runs for the new stable after showing some ability as a 2yo. His trials have been sound, and he gets a soft trip.

BACK: SHARP INTEREST (2) – 4 units (win)
SELECTIONS: SHARP INTEREST (2), BRAVE ART (3), LORIMERMAJOR (8), ZOOM ZOOM BOOM (1)
Race 4:
OVERVIEW: FOREGONE CONCLUSION (4) gets the barrier draw and potential map advantage on some key rivals in what appears a suitable race. He can show gate speed and race forward, and this appears a more suitable assignment than what he’s been opposed to lately.
MAXBECA (6) has been good his past couple including a win two back where he had every chance. This map is a little sticky, but his form warrants respect. ROJENBYE (5) has been thereabouts without winning at Mildura but does possess a solid record at this track. If he maps well, he’s one at value to consider. MONSIEUR FLAMEL (9) has the backrow draw to overcome, but this appears more suitable than recent starts. His best form has often come when he races forward.

BACK: FOREGONE CONCLUSION (4) – 2 units (win)
SELECTIONS: FOREGONE CONCLUSION (4), MAXBECA (5), ROJENBYE (5) MONSIEUR FLAMEL (9)
Race 5:
OVERVIEW: BET ON ACES (6) has been good in two runs back from a long break. He was forced to work from a tough draw last time and was good the start prior in a solid form race. There are a couple of question marks on the opposition, and the draw is a bit sticky, but if he has any luck, he will be in the finish.
WOODVILLE FLYER (5) has only had the one trial but was a winner there and looked okay. She has the maturity on the other first starters which is an advantage. EL LAZZAR (10) is a 3yo first starter and ran 2nd in its last trial in decent time; he’s in an astute stable and is a market watch. RAVISHING ROXY (4) is the other debutant, and after a couple of indifferent trials improved at the most recent with Herbertson on and is worth keeping safe.
SELECTIONS: BET ON ACES (6), WOODVILLE FLYER (5), EL LAZZAR (10), RAVISHING ROXY (4)
Race 6:
OVERVIEW: BLACKRANGE GLORY (10) got things wrong last start, but his record under mobile conditions prior to this preparation was very good. His best form is better than most of these, and if he gets it right at the start, you can be confident for the remainder of the race. He’s a risky conveyance but may be good value to warrant a small play.
ATABOY CHARLIE (5) has been starting off decent handicaps and returns to mobile conditions here, and his consistency is a positive attribute in this line-up. CHAMPAGNES (1) can mix her form, but her best efforts come under mobile conditions when she’s able to race forward, so is open to improvement. CHARLIE WALKER (9) has been thereabouts lately and gets the trailing draw to map okay, and a little bit of tempo may allow him to figure in the finish.

BACK: BLACKRANGE GLORY (10) – 1 unit (win)
SELECTIONS: BLACKRANGE GLORY (10), ATABOY CHARLIE (5), CHAMPAGNES (1)
