Ryan Phelan has your tips, strategy and Quaddie for Tuesday night at Shepparton.

Race 1:
OVERVIEW: THERESHEWAS (3) was backed off the map for the new in-form stable last start, and it’s fair to say she was a good thing beaten, never clear in the home straight. I liked the versatility she showed there, and this barrier seems advantageous to get a better map this time. This looks a good race to get her first Victorian win.
ELIZAJANE (4) is a fast beginner and went close last time when able to map well behind the speed. This race looks a more suitable option for her to go close again. Stablemate MASTER MIKI (9) was a winner last start when working outside the leader in average time; he can punch through and not be too far off them. COVERED IN GOLD (1) hasn’t done much in three runs back from a break, but his form last prep was okay. He will get a soft run on the pegs.

BACK: THERESHEWAS (3) – 3 units (win)
SELECTIONS: THERESHEWAS (3), ELIZAJANE (4), MASTER MIKI (9), COVERED IN GOLD (1)
Race 2:
OVERVIEW: PARISIAN BANDIT (1) has been in good form lately and gets the best draw in those solid performances. He looks to map behind the leader and will get his chance along the sprint lane to dash off an economical trip.
TREACHEROUSTIMES (2) gets a start as the emergency and has the set-up to go back-to-back. He’s a fast beginner and was able to go all the way over this distance last week. Whilst this race is slightly harder, he can find the top and his times may be enough to get him there. BETTORSWEETVICTORY (8) went down as an odds-on favourite last week when she was able to find the top. Although she gets the back row here, with clear air late expect her to finish strongly. COLORADO GIRL (10) was good first-up in quick time against a handy one. She’s normally better when she can show her early speed, but this opposition will be suitable.
SELECTIONS: PARISIAN BANDIT (1), TREACHEROUSTIMES (2), BETTORSWEETVICTORY (8), COLORADO GIRL (10)
Race 3:
OVERVIEW: DUSTY PHILTRA (11) resumed for his 3yo season in terrific fashion, winning at Melton sitting parked and running away, albeit in slow time. His form against some smart 2yos last prep suggested he’s a handy type, so you can trust him to go again.
GINGER ELLA (4) finds a suitable race for the first time this prep, having started in tougher company and from tricky draws. She has early gate speed to look for the lead here, which is how she won her maiden victory as a 2yo at Melton. PRICILLA (10) has proven she is a tough, honest filly in her three career runs, working forward from tricky draws each time. She will have to show that again here, but there’s enough under the bonnet. OUR SWEET JEANNIE (9) is still learning the caper, but there’s ability there and she’s worth keeping safe from the trailing draw.

BACK: DUSTY PHILTRA (11) – 1 unit (win)
SELECTIONS: DUSTY PHILTRA (11), GINGER ELLA (4), PRICILLA (10), OUR SWEET JEANNIE (9)
Race 4:
OVERVIEW: TEX GOES BANG (5) can afford to work forward against this moderate lineup and use his toughness in a race which looks suitable. He races best when he can roll along at a tempo he’s comfortable with, similar to last start when he ran 2nd sitting parked. If he finds the top, he’ll be hard to run down.
WHERES WOOD WOOD (9) ran a decent 2nd last time out, and to be fair she’s been okay this time in, but like many of these doesn’t win out of turn. REASON TO LAUGH (6) is going okay without threatening to win, but he can slide across here and race handy. THE ACCIDENTAL ONE (4) has decent gate speed and may map to cross to the pegs and hand up, but she has had a few chances.

BACK: TEX GOES BANG (5) – 2 units (win)
SELECTIONS: TEX GOES BANG (5), WHERES WOOD WOOD (9), REASON TO LAUGH (6), THE ACCIDENTAL ONE (4)
Race 5:
OVERVIEW: THUNDERFIRE (5) there’s been plenty to like about the way he has gone about his business in two runs this preparation, coming off the speed and winning well in good time. His progression is destined for a place well beyond where he’s rated at the moment, and although he’ll give them a start, he can overpower them late.
TIVOLI (1) is an honest mare with good gate speed who will map well regardless if she doesn’t lead, getting reliable cover. She is slightly up in class. BLACKJACK WHACKO (4) will find this more suitable than last time out at Melton and may look to put himself into the race from the favourable draw. DRESSED IN GOLD (6) it’s hard to know where he’s at, but his best would have him in this with claims.

BACK: THUNDERFIRE (5) – 2 units (win)
SELECTIONS: THUNDERFIRE (5), TIVOLI (1), BLACKJACK WHACKO (4), DRESSED IN GOLD (6)
Race 6:
OVERVIEW: SON OF A BROAD (1) looks ready to break through here on the back of some solid performances his past few. The key is for him to be able to kick up and hold the front, as he’s a horse that will whack away at the same speed, so will need it on his terms.
LOIERO (8) met with good support on resuming and battled away well sitting parked. He gets a softer time of it now and looks the logical threat. BONIFICENT (3) is a first starter who comes here off the one trial when 4th at this track. Hard to know how she measures up but is worth keeping safe. ELLIANA (2) draws softly and is from a good stable and has minor claims.

BACK: SON OF A BROAD (1) – 2 units (win)
SELECTIONS: SON OF A BROAD (1), LOIERO (8), BONIFICENT (3), ELLIANA (2)
Race 7:
OVERVIEW: VOLDAGHA (2) is resuming here off one trial, and he’s a horse who’s always commanded market respect, despite winning only once. He can show gate speed here and potentially find the lead, and if there’s enough fitness under his belt looks the testing material.
ISLAND FRANKIE (1) hasn’t been seen since June last year when a good winner on debut as a 2yo when well supported. He’s had two trials into this which have been inconclusive, so happy to see him step out here. GATESYS MATE (4) won well last start at Cranbourne, albeit he had every chance, but should map well again. LILLYS TIGER (5) hard to know what to make of her this time in, but her best warrants respect in this line-up.
SELECTIONS: VOLDAGHA (2), ISLAND FRANKIE (1), GATESYS MATE (4), LILLYS TIGER (5)
Race 8:
OVERVIEW: DIAMONDONTHEROCKS (3) wasn’t a bad run on debut, drawing the pegs and dragged back by a tiring runner, and found the line okay once clear. This is a more favourable draw, and the opposition doesn’t present as overly strong.
CAPTAIN LOCKSLEY (5) is making its debut and has trialled fairly into this, albeit in slow times. The draw helps and this looks suitable for a first hit-out. EEBEEBEE (6) has a 50% place strike rate but has had plenty of chances to win. She is first up, but she has more ability than most here. ROCKINTHEKASBA (4) has the benefit of two outings in tougher company than he faces here and could be open to improvement.
SELECTIONS: DIAMONDONTHEROCKS (3), CAPTAIN LOCKSLEY (5), EEBEEBEE (6), ROCKINTHEKASBA (4)
Race 9:
OVERVIEW: MUNNY THE MUNSTER (3) was chasing around one of the stars of his age group, Keayang Bazlenka, last prep as a 2yo, running placings to that horse in the Vicbred and Breeders Crown. He’s first up here with one trial, and even though he’ll need the run, has the class edge.
AETOS DYNAMIS (8) has been racing in tougher grade and running some decent races, and even though he’s off the back row can finish strongly with a decent tempo. SPANISH RIZARDO (5) is racing okay this preparation, evidenced by his win last time at Melton, albeit in easier company. WOMAN TO LOVE (4) has been racing in the same company and hasn’t been far away but has place claims in this line-up.
SELECTIONS: MUNNY THE MUNSTER (3), AETOS DYNAMIS (8), SPANISH RIZARDO (5), WOMAN TO LOVE (4)
Race 10:
OVERVIEW: MISS KOMMUNICATION (3) ran a nice race on debut sitting parked outside a handy one, and although she was beaten a decent margin, she has the others covered after doing that work. This looks much easier so a repeat performance will see her hard to beat.
MI BOW (1) has had a few chances but was a good 2nd last start and gets a soft draw with the top driver. GYM QUEEN (6) has been okay her last couple, finding the line soundly two back and backing it up with a solid 2nd. FARSTAR (5) will win a race one day, but he’s been costly to punters, which makes it hard to have confidence.
SELECTIONS: MISS KOMMUNICATION (3), MI BOW (1), GYM QUEEN (6), FARSTAR (5)
