OVERVIEW: MIDNITE MUSCLE (8) has the confidence, consistency and the best sectional time in the field. As the only runner off the second line, he has options here. AGAINST THE BRIDLE (4) has been out of the winners’ circle for a few months but does have a solid overall record. When he can get forward, he can be a major threat. GIGGLE WATER (6) has been a little inconsistent recently, but some of her recent runs have been solid. She has gate speed. MAORI TATTOO (5) is now fourth up and his times have improved with each run this campaign. Expecting further improvement, and he can be right in this with luck.

OVERVIEW: MYNAMEISRUBY (7) is an experienced mare lining up for her 157th start. She is racing in great form, placing at her last five starts, and hasn’t had much luck. Two starts back she covered an extra 33 metres; the start prior she covered an extra 28 metres racing wide. Another awkward barrier, but she’s racing well. ARE WEASLEY (10) didn’t look great on paper last start, but he had no clear running in the straight and was travelling strongly. His two prior runs were excellent. Stablemates VERY TEMPTING (2) and BLUE OCEAN (1) should both enjoy economical runs on the fence and can take advantage of their favourable draws while key rivals may have to cover extra ground.

OVERVIEW: BUNGY (6) had excellent trial form before his race debut last month, where he ran a solid second. He will improve from that run and looks a talented type with a bright future. TRYX VIXEN (5) is one of the most experienced runners in the field with 20 starts. Although yet to win, she has placed at her last six and shown ability. CAPTOTHEMAX (7) is a first starter with a trial win and a second at Bendigo to his name. The sticky barrier makes it tougher. SHEZARHYTHM (2) is first up with a good barrier to use. She is well bred and has had only two starts. On debut she finished third, beaten 11.9 metres behind two star fillies in a 1.53.7 mile rate. She can clearly run time and is still learning.

OVERVIEW: RAKERO WARRIOR (11) is in flying, career-best form. He has had 11 starts for trainer Tori Hutchins for six wins and three placings, with the other two unplaced runs he galloped. He is versatile and can make his own luck. AT THE DISTANCE (2) races well when he finds a forward position, which he is likely to do from barrier two. His win two starts back at Cranbourne was strong when he led. He looks well placed. CENTURION DREAM (10) is a classy mare at her best and returned to the winners’ list three starts ago at Ballarat. She will need to bring her best but can be competitive with luck. NOBLE COUNT (9)and Leilani Justice have been in good form recently. He is versatile and can be saved for one run or work in the breeze, and has a barrier to follow through early.

BACK: RAKERO WARRIOR (11) – 3 units (win)

OVERVIEW: WHATS THE TEA (10) is an experienced trotter at this grade who always gives his best. He has the best sectional times in the event but will need luck from the awkward barrier. CHARLIE WALKER (7) has good gate speed and won well two starts back when leading. Alex Ashwood drove him to that win and reunites here. If he gets forward, he can perform strongly. POPPY POPSTAR (6) can be inconsistent, but when she gets it right she is capable of a strong performance. MADGE EGAN (4) looked improved last start, settling second last before flashing home to place. If she can replicate that effort, she will be right in the mix.

OVERVIEW: SKYFALL BENCHMARK (4) is a smart performer with good ability. He has had three impressive runs this campaign. Three starts back he missed the start and had to chase the mobile but was still strong enough to win. He has since finished third at his past two runs. SORRISO DE PRAIA (3) has had only two starts and was brilliant winning his most recent outing, albeit 345 days ago. He won a recent Bendigo trial and looks a progressive type if he stays sound. TELERN LOFTY (5) has had seven career starts and has only missed a place once, on debut when fourth. Her last two runs were wins early last year. She has ability and comes from a strong stable but is first up and likely to improve on whatever she does here. MICHEN ROY (7) has an awkward barrier but is race fit, has the best sectional times and has been performing well.

OVERVIEW: MIDNIGHT MOJO (4) has been racing very well, finishing top three in six of her last seven starts. When drawing the front row recently she has either won or run a strong second. She looks well placed. SAVON DE ROCHE (3) is first up this year but has always shown promise and won a recent Maryborough trial impressively. TUPELO BEACH (2) has the best quarter and swooping speed in the race. If he is close enough turning for home, he will be flashing late. REGAL ROCK (5) is a 26-time winner with proven ability. His win three starts ago was solid and he just needs luck from the barrier.

She doesn’t possess a sharp turn of foot, so she will rely on even splits. MACHO MAORI (8) has been racing consistently and has the barrier to hold the fence and secure a good run. He has the best sectional times in the field. PLAYA DEL CARMEN (4) races well when saved on the fence and has hit the line strongly at her past two starts. BET BET HOTSHOT (6) is still a maiden but his past two runs have been among his best. The barrier is tricky, but he is nearing a breakthrough win.

OVERVIEW: OOH AH LISTAH (6) won well in good time at Hamilton last start and has the best sectional times in the field. The barrier is tricky, but he is a quality horse. CHOGI (7) has won his past two starts. He had the same barrier last week, made a wide run and was still too strong. He will need to replicate that effort. FEEL THE REIGN (8) is in near career-best form, impressive for an 11-year-old who has raced at top level around the country. He has finished top three at his past seven starts, including three wins. As the only runner off the second line, he has options. STARZINHEREYES (2) has the gate speed to hold a forward position on the fence and will appreciate a good run.
