OVERVIEW: BETTORSWEETVICTORY (5) is on the back-up from Tuesday night where she drew awkwardly off the back row, working to the line well late. She did fail as a favourite prior; however, she draws to map well here in what appears a suitable race.

TELL A TALL STORY (2) gets its third stable change in as many starts but was better last time when able to lead and hung tough after coping with pressure. SKADI (6) came through that same race at Boort and worked hard but may be forced to do so again. DOT BALL (7) found her race to win last start; this presents as a more difficult challenge from the draw.

SELECTIONS: FANTASY FLIGHT (7), SECRET CHANCE (9), MAJOR ROY (5), BUBBLE OVER (8)

OVERVIEW: FANTASY FLIGHT (7) has been good in three runs but improved markedly last time out at Shepparton when sustaining a run from the tail in a slick last half and his sectionals were good. No favours with the draw so he may have to improve yet again, but he’s trending nicely.

SECRET CHANCE (9) didn’t have any luck on debut and things didn’t work out from the draw last time either; she could be one at value. MAJOR ROY (5) has been solid in four career outings despite still learning what it’s all about. He may look to put himself into the race on speed. BUBBLE OVER (8) has shown promise in two career runs but just has a tricky draw to overcome here.

SELECTIONS: ARE WEASLEY (9), PRECIOUS BELLE (8), MYNAMEISRUBY (12), TEX GOES BANG (10)

OVERVIEW: ARE WEASLEY (9) was smashed in betting in the Bendigo heat and won accordingly, working around mid-race and winning by a space. This race presents as an almost identical set-up, so a different result would come as some surprise.

PRECIOUS BELLE (8) didn’t have any luck at Bendigo and when she got clear along the sprint lane she found the line well. MYNAMEISRUBY (12) was placed out of the draw after a bad getaway at Bendigo and had every hope in a winnable race during the week, but she’s going better than most. TEX GOES BANG (10) hasn’t had much go his way his past couple; he can work into the race with the right tempo.

SELECTIONS: MORRIS BROWN (11), LESTER (7), MUSELET (3), HUXHAM CHUBB (8)

OVERVIEW: MORRIS BROWN (11) finds himself in the most suitable race he’s been in since arriving from Tasmania. He’s proven to be a tough type, sticking on well sitting parked in good time. There appears a speedy enough front line for him to work into the race at the right time and outstay them.

LESTER (7) is a terrific money spinner who often proves versatility in his racing pattern. He will need some luck from the draw, but his form warrants respect. MUSELET (3) when drawn favourably, normally runs well and he can get into a handy spot from this marble. HUXHAM CHUBB (8) is an honest mare who will need plenty of luck from the inside, but her form is hard to dismiss.

SELECTIONS: HEATSEEKER (1), TO THE NINES (12), JAMES GARNER (8), WICKED WIZARD (11)

OVERVIEW: HEATSEEKER (1) has now had five runs back from a long layoff and hasn’t had much luck in any of those starts up in grade and from bad draws. He showed decent ability as a 3yo and from what he’s shown to the line he’s still racing with zest. The claim helps and he can use the draw to race forward at good odds.

TO THE NINES (12) has been racing against solid company in town and even though he presented in more winnable races his past couple he was still good enough to have claims. JAMES GARNER (8) has been racing consistently and trails through well to potentially get a soft run. WICKED WIZARD (11) ran his best race for a while running good time last start at Wagga; he must overcome a sticky draw.

SELECTIONS: FIRE MARSHALL (2), WILD BULL (9), SPIRIT OF SAHARA (1), INTERPRETATION (8)

OVERVIEW: FIRE MARSHALL (2) is fitter now and drawn to improve on recent outings, including last start where he drifted back from the wide draw only to find the line well when the race was over. From a more favourable marble he can map handy and be hard to beat.

WILD BULL (9) has gone in and out of form in the past, but he’s seemingly been more consistent this prep and his 2nd last start at Melton was very good, sitting parked and sticking on well. He can trail through softly and map well.

SPIRIT OF SAHARA (1) will love this draw to show speed and map to take the right cover to use the sprint lane late. INTERPRETATION (8) has been very honest this season and has had excuses her last couple; she can flash late with even luck.

SELECTIONS: AVANT GUARD (9), MITCHELL WRAP (5), THE DARK THUNDER (4), MAESTRO (8)

OVERVIEW: AVANT GUARD (9) looks well suited here based on the quality opposition he’s faced most of this season in town. Whilst he doesn’t boast an amazing standing start record, he was good in the Ararat Cup under similar conditions narrowly going down and can go one better.

MITCHELL WRAP (5) also will enjoy this opposition, and he has a strong standing start record. He can sharply improve on his numerical form. THE DARK THUNDER (4) has been a revelation this season chasing his third consecutive country cup, although this does present as another challenge. MAESTRO (8) is always thereabouts in these cup races and is normally reliable; he just hasn’t won for a while.

OVERVIEW: What a terrific edition of the Pacing Cup! MIKI TO SUCCESS (8) is a high quality 5yo who’s graduated from being top quality against his age division to taking on the Grand Circuit quality FFA’s. His run in the A G Hunter Cup to run 4th was terrific and he backed it up with a tough win last week. He won well at his only start here which adds to the confidence.

ATA RANGI (5) has been ultra consistent this time in and is versatile in his racing pattern which helps considering the front row speed. SANCHEZ (1) ran well at Birchip and has raced in good company most of his career; the draw helps for a tactical advantage. MY ULTIMATE JIMMY (3) can fly under the radar at this level, but he gives every indication he’s above average and can run a good race.

OVERVIEW: TELERN LOFTY (9) came through the fastest heat and carried extra merit considering he was first up from a break and won with a bit of authority despite the small field. With added fitness and a soft trailing draw he shapes as the one to beat.

OUR ART WORK (2) was able to lead and win the Mildura heat and it looks the same set-up for him to find the top again over the short trip. OOH AH LISTAH (10) won the other Bendigo heat and has found some consistent form this preparation, going for a hat-trick. SKYFALL BENCHMARK (5) was well supported when he led in Telern Lofty’s race but had every chance; however, he warrants respect.
