SELECTIONS: ITTAKESLUV (9), DANCIN WITH ELVIS (4), DOCTOR GO JOH (8), ALOOK TO LIKE (2)

OVERVIEW: ITTAKESLUV (9) performed below expectations at Stawell last outing but he sustained a strong run out three horses wide from the 700m when a close second at Ararat prior. He was a winner at Mount Gambier on March 06 and he appears to be well placed against this field. DANCIN WITH ELVIS (4) settled in a rearward position and produced a strong finish to score at Mount Gambier on Tuesday. This is a field of similar standard and he should prove hard to beat again. DOCTOR GO JOH (8) didn’t seem to handle the track at Mildura as he galloped early and raced roughly several times but he was still some winning chance coming up to the home turn. His form prior was okay and he will appreciate competing on the bigger track at Hamilton so he is worth another chance. SMOKIN STREPO (1) and ALOOK TO LIKE (2) both have claims from their inside draw.

SELECTIONS: KAMARAN (6), STEPBYSTEP (8), MY MOTHER SAID (3), BROWN EYED KATE (1)

OVERVIEW: KAMARAN (6) has always shown ability but his manners have been an issue. He has really started putting it altogether at his most recent attempts, where he has won very comfortably twice and he is clearly the horse to beat again if he delivers another fool proof display. STEPBYSTEP (8) is a promising 3yo trotter that is resuming since a Maryborough victory in December and hasn’t been to the trials. He made it through to the Breeders Crown Final last season and is very lightly raced so he might be in for a prosperous campaign. MY MOTHER SAID (3) raced on the outside of the leader throughout and battled on well for third behind BROWN EYED KATE (1) at Mount Gambier on Tuesday. She is a place chance on that handy performance. BROWN EYED KATE (1) trailed the leader and used the sprint lane when she scored at Mount Gambier. She is drawn to receive a similar trip so she is not without a chance.

SELECTIONS: HUXHAM CHUBB (4), FAMOUS LABEL (2), PRESIDENTIALCHANGE (7), ONYX (9)

OVERVIEW: HUXHAM CHUBB (4) settled at the tail of the field and was the widest runner turning for home when a fast finishing fifth behind Optimal in the Pleasant Creek Final at Stawell. She competed twice on the same day and performed well both times so she should be very fit for this performance. FAMOUS LABEL (2) began smartly and pushed forward to find the lead when she scored narrowly at Mount Gambier on Tuesday. She continues to perform consistently against this grade and should give another bold showing. PRESIDENTIALCHANGE (7) settled in a rearward position, charged down the back straight on the first occasion to race without cover and battled on strongly for third at Stawell. He is poorly drawn again but is racing well enough to break through for a win. ONYX (9) broke stride at the start, lost valuable ground and did well to finish as close as he did at Stawell. He has galloped in both of his runs since a Ballarat victory on March 05 and is worth another chance.

SELECTIONS: JILLIBY DOOLEY (7), HAPPILY (6), VINNY ROCK (5), CAPTAIN WILSON (1)

OVERVIEW: JILLIBY DOOLEY (7) is poorly drawn for his first run since November but he showed a lot of promise during his first campaign and he will be fitter after a recent trial third at Terang. He did win in a mile rate of 1.57.8 at his debut performance so he should sprint well when fresh. HAPPILY (6) was resuming since May 2025 when she scored at Goulburn. She is rising from the Maiden class but she was impressive last time and is capable of taking the next step forward. VINNY ROCK (5) used inside runs throughout and came from last when an eye-catching third at Stawell. He should strip fitter from that run and should be competitive again. CAPTAIN WILSON (1) finished fast when an eye-catching second at Terang two starts ago and IMAGINATION ORO (2) was runner up behind the smart pacer Keayang Payton at Mount Gambier last week.

SELECTIONS: CARAPAZ (3), NONNAS DREAM (5), THATS KEVIN (10), BUBBLE OVER (2)

OVERVIEW: CARAPAZ (3) is resuming since a third at Terang in October but he will be fitter after a recent trial effort at Terang and he showed enough ability last preparation to warrant respect. He did contest the Sapling Stakes three starts ago and finished a close second in a slick mile rate of 1.57.2 on October 10. NONNAS DREAM (5) is the interesting runner. She is a 2yo filly taking on older horses but she did finish off in a slick final quarter of 28.5 seconds to win a Terang trial last week with SORRYDREAMAWAY (1) being in third so she must be kept safe. THAT’S KEVIN (10) finished off hard when an eye-catching second at Terang then appeared to have his chance from behind the leader at Stawell. He is lightly raced and should continue to improve with the benefit of racing. BUBBLE OVER (2) has been racing consistently and has claims along with SNACK LOVER (8).

SELECTIONS: BETTORPATCHMEUP (3), THEROUX (2), VILLAGE VOICE (8), NO EMOTION (9)

OVERVIEW: BETTORPATCHMEUP (3) was shuffled back on the markers and produced a big finale when an eye-catching third at Ararat then followed with a fourth at Stawell, where he worked hard early before gaining a trail. He is racing well and deserves to break through for a win. THEROUX (2) settled on the markers, was dragged back through the field by a tiring runner and charged home along the sprint lane when an unlucky second at Kilmore last outing. He is meeting a field of similar standard and must be considered amongst the leading chances. VILLAGE VOICE (8) is awkwardly drawn but continues to perform consistently and should be finishing off strongly. She did well throughout the Pleasant Creek series, where a handy finishing third in both the heat and the final on the same day. NO EMOTION (9) gets into this race nicely with the aid of a concession claim and EMJAY JAZZ (10) finished second in reasonable time at a Maryborough trial effort last week.

SELECTIONS: BACKBEACH PETER (3), ROCKNROLL WILLOW (10), STEAM MACHINE (9), NAMELLA (4)

OVERVIEW: BACKBEACH PETER (3) was very heavily supported and overcame a tough journey when a big winner at Terang then followed with a very easy win at Mount Gambier. He is drawn to find the lead whereas his main rival ROCKNROLL WILLOW (10) will be doing the chasing from the second row so he is a big chance of completing a hat trick. ROCKNROLL WILLOW (10) is a smart filly, which has only missed a place once in seven attempts and that effort was in the Breeders Crown Final. She was driven aggressively and clearly outgunned her rivals when resuming so she should make her presence felt. STEAM MACHINE (9) is a versatile pacer and was a big winner in a strong staying contest at Ararat two starts ago. He performed below expectations in his heat fourth but he is too good to dismiss. LUCKY VINCENT (1) attempted to lead throughout when third at Stawell. He is a good chance of ending up behind the leader from the pole position so he is a genuine place chance. Other place hopes include NAMELLA (4) and FAMISHED (8).

SELECTIONS: EYENEEDTHAT (1), KING KASEY (6), RANGER RICK (10), KEAYANG WASABI (13) ᅠ

OVERVIEW: EYENEEDTHAT (1) returns to Victoria after being unplaced in a heat of the New South Wales Derby on March 07. He competed in the Super Series, the Breeders Crown and the Caduceus Classic prior to a second at Hamilton on February 23 so he appears to be very well placed under these conditions. KING KASEY (6) is a smart 3yo pacer, which is building up a strong record with four wins from just eight attempts. He pushed forward to find the lead and won comfortably at his latest Stawell attempt and should go well again. RANGER RICK (10) was resuming since November when he finished off nicely for third behind Keayang Renegade (won against since) at Terang. He should have benefited from that performance and is worth an investment. KEAYANG WASABI (13) will appreciate a drop back in class for this assignment and is capable of improving on his numerical form. NANCYS BOY (12) ran a terrific race for fifth at his first run in nearly five years! He will be better from that run and rates as a value hope.
