OVERVIEW: SAM NIEN (9) defeated IJUSTCALLEDTOSAY (13) in the Nutrien Classic back in September. He was placed in the Need for Speed Prince Final on October 04 and he bounced back from his disappointing heat effort when third against the Metropolitan class trotters at Geelong last week. He is more fool proof than his two main rivals in ALRIGHTY (10) and IJUSTCALLEDTOSAY (13) so he gains top billing. IJUSTCALLEDTOSAY (13) won a heat of the Need For Speed Prince series on September 24 then has made errors or has enjoyed no luck whatsoever at his next four attempts. He is a quality 3yo and must be considered amongst the leading chances. ALRIGHTY (10) tends to perform best when he is able to lead so being drawn on the second row is a disadvantage but his overall form is strong enough to be competitive against this line up. He broke stride at the 1800m and lost his chance in his heat but he led throughout in a handy mile rate of 1.57.9 prior. If the emergency VYTIS (6) gains a start, he will prove hard to beat. He was seemingly going to run second in his heat behind the eventual Grand Final winner in Mecarno but he was checked and broke stride on the home turn. HODY MOKE (2) should go well from his handy draw.

OVERVIEW: PESCI (9) recorded a big victory at Bendigo last week, where he worked hard early, gained a trail and finished off best in a slick mile rate of 1.53.4. He is meeting a field of similar quality now and should prove hard to beat. ROARFORROSCOE (10) appeared to have his chance when resuming but he chased home the smart pacer Petracca. He should have benefited from the run and this race is easier so he must be considered as a winning chance. SPIRIT OF ANARCHY (6) was performing nicely at Menangle prior to a second on his Victorian debut, where he attempted to lead throughout in the St Arnaud Cup. He has ability and should give a bold showing. BULLDOG KHAN (4) performs best when he is able to lead over the sprint distance so he has the conditions to suit him here and he should take catching.

OVERVIEW: REMUS PHOENIX (6) never appeared to be comfortable and broke stride approaching the home turn ($1-95 fav) when unplaced behind Hilltop Hugh in the Super Series Final last outing. This is a massive drop back in class and he is a quality trotter when he is able to put it altogether so he should prove hard to beat. QUIRKY CHARACTER (8) was a good thing beaten last outing and must be respected. He was poor to begin, worked hard and had a comfortable lead with 100m remaining before he broke stride and lost his winning opportunity. STATELY SALOME (1) was performing nicely at the trials prior to a first up seventh at Kilmore, where she broke stride on the home turn when seemingly going to finish in fourth. She is nicely bred and has ability so she cannot be left out of calculations. HAPPY ESCAPE (7) has a tough draw to overcome but he has been trotting in good form and is worth a place ticket.

OVERVIEW: DEUCE COUPE (6) is poorly drawn over the sprint distance but he ran a really nice race at long odds when fourth behind Hot Deal in a harder event last week so he appears to be a value chance. ALWAYS THE SHOWMAN (8) was confidently supported and set up a genuine tempo in the leading role when a game second behind the smart pacer My Ultimate Jimmy at Mildura last outing. He is awkwardly drawn but he should be hitting the line strongly. UBETTA KNOT (5) is a fast beginner and should be reaching her peak form after having two starts back from a break so she can improve on her numerical form. FERRIGNO (9) was a winner at Cranbourne four starts ago and copped plenty of pressure in the leading role when fourth at Geelong last outing. He has claims along with LEAVEMEOUT (10), which is resuming since a second at Coolamon in April.

OVERVIEW: VYTIS (4) was travelling extremely well on the home turn and it appeared as though he was going to finish second before he was checked and broke stride in his heat of this series. He definitely should have made the final so he will prove almighty hard to beat in the Bronze Consolation. ZARSKI (10) is resuming since a second at Charlton behind Paris Jamilla on September 29. He is a very smart trotter when he is able to able to put it altogether and should be competitive if he gives a fool proof display. CHARLESTON AVENUE (5) gained a nice trail and chased hard when a close second behind the in-form trotter Faith Full at Cranbourne last outing. His last victory was over the handy type Ringer Wells in August and he looms as one of the leading chances here. ALDEBARAN SUE (8) led throughout at Maryborough when resuming then broke stride at the start and lost her chance last outing. She is awkwardly drawn but has the ability to feature prominently.

OVERVIEW: FREIGHT SHAKER (3) finished quickly for fourth in a heat of the Super Series then followed with an unplaced effort in the Final. This is a big drop back in class and he should prove hard to beat from his good draw. CARLA PIXIE (7) will also appreciate a drop back in class with a fourth in the Need for Speed Princess Final, a seventh in the Victoria Oaks and a fifth in the Gold Bracelet at her past three attempts. She has performed well at the trials since so she is worth an investment. CENTURION DREAM (9) was unplaced in the Super Series Final behind Keayang Zahara last week. He was a winner at Bendigo four starts ago and is versatile enough to be competitive under these conditions. QUAKE PROOF (2) is capable of sprinting to the line quickly with the right trail forward and is not without a chance.

OVERVIEW: JAYS ALL THAT (3) led out then took cover but broke stride with 150m remaining when eighth in a heat of the Supers Series last outing. He lost his chance to qualify for the Final but he has since scored in a Bacchus Marsh trial effort on Saturday so he is worth another chance. HALLEBESOFINE (1) was headed off at the start and didn’t have much luck in a heat of the Super Series last outing. She is a bold front running type and will take beating here if she can hold a forward position at the start. VAN NOSTRAND (5) settled midfield and finished off best to defeat Farstar at Shepparton last outing. He is a nicely bred trotter, that is showing ability and looms as one of the leading chances again. NORTHERN TRUSCOTT (2) and WHAT THE TOOTH (7) are both capable of showing up without surprising.
EARLY SPEED: 3 (possible leader), 1
RATINGS: 1,3/ 5/ 2/ 7,8
OVERVIEW: It is a very open race to commence the program with many winning chances. FAIR CHANCE (5) is racing in career best form and had little luck when fourth at her latest attempt, which was her first unplaced effort from her past ten starts. She recorded a slick mile rate of 1.55.6 prior so she is worth another chance. KEAYANG SANTIAGO (3) was able to lead throughout under similar conditions at Geelong last week. It is a very fast front line but he should be competitive again from his good draw. LENARD ESS (9) will be suited by an expected fast early tempo and he was finding the line nicely at his latest fourth so he rates as a value hope. BLAZIN HEAVEN (2) won from behind the leader at Cranbourne two starts ago recording a career best mile of 1.54.7. She is drawn to obtain a similar position here and is worth an investment.
