The St Arnaud Football Club has aligned with its local trots club for today’s Weir’s Supa IGA St Arnaud Pacing Cup through Harness Racing Victoria’s Grassroots Gold program.
The footy club, which has about 200 members and is maintained by a 15-person committee and many tireless volunteers, is hoping GoodForm analyst Blake Redden can secure some healthy returns via today’s $500 Game Plan.
“During our home-and-away season we rely on countless parents, players and supporters to make the season a success,” St Arnaud FC secretary Jamie Torney told The Trots.
“Recently our local government has been working hard to obtain grants in the attempt to redevelop Lord Nelson Park, the home of many sporting clubs. A highlight of this upgrade is ensuring our facilities are female friendly as many young girls are showing more interest in football.
“That is our main priority with raising funds at this stage, but we also require upgrades to our scoreboard and lighting with health and safety a driving force.”

Torney said the club was looking forward to today’s cup day trots.
“We’ll be spending the afternoon with many of our members present and we’d like to congratulate the club and Harness Racing Victoria on their continued meetings and support of the St Arnaud community.”
Redden’s Game Plan will be published prior to Race 1.
Grassroots Gold has so far raised $1453.20 for local sporting clubs in four locations throughout Victoria with 21 to go before the end of the Trots Country Cups Championship.
